In 1922 a group of U.S. Army officers created their own way to not only insure their vehicles but also themselves. The officers self-insured one another when they were unable to secure auto insurance due to the perception that they, as military officers, were a high-risk group. Before being known as the United Services Automobile Association (USAA), it was first known as the United States Army Automobile Association but eventually changed its name in 1924 after officers of other US military services became eligible for membership. It is the pioneer of direct marketing and conducts business over the Internet and telephone and uses employees instead of agents.
United Services Automobile Association provides banking and financial products and services to the military and their families in the United States. The company offers banking products and services comprising checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, credit cards, home mortgages, home equity products, and auto loans; and insurance solutions, such as auto, home and property, life, and other insurance solutions, as well as health insurance products comprising Medicare, dental, and vision solutions.
Prior to 1996, eligibility for USAA membership was limited to commissioned officers in the U.S. armed forces, cadets and midshipmen at the U.S. service academies eligible to have a personal car, cadets and midshipmen in college and university ROTC programs, college and university students in the Marine Corps PLC or Navy AVROC programs or college graduate officer candidates/officer trainees in the OCS program of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guards or the Air Force OTS program. In 1996, eligibility was extended to enlisted personnel in the U.S. armed forces. Although memberships were offered to civilians between September 2009 and August 2013, there were limitations. This membership provided access to USAA’s investment products, most bank deposit products, and life insurance. Auto and property

If you’re wondering how Lyndon B. Johnson had so many people on his side, there’s one simple way to put it. Retail Politics! This is when a particular person would go out personally to local events and meet individual voters one-to-one to learn their situations and political views and use that to their strategy. When it came to winning, LBJ had the patience and the humility to work with one person at a time. Craig Raupe states, “JFK would call five or six, LBJ would take nineteen names and call them all.” So, while John called his five or six friends of unwavering opinions, knowing no matter what they would always be on his side. Lyndon would gather all his steady voters with his hesitant voters for a better chance at gaining more by increasing the chance of having those extra voters that might just say “yes.”…

Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate founded the National Rifle Association in 1871. The goal of the association would be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church. The first NRA president would be General Ambrose Burnside from the civil war; he was also the former Rhode Island governor and a U.S. senator. The NRA’s first “home” would be in the state of New York where they built a firing range for annual competitions, but shortly thereafter, political opposition on the promotion of marksmanship in New York made the NRA’s matches move to New Jersey. The NRA has contributed to many arm bearing movements, for instance, in 1949, the NRA, in agreeance…
