Has anyone ever thought how remarkable computers are? Typing up essays and at the same time, having spell check and grammar checks correcting papers to be improved. Searching up resources and information for a research paper. Watching a documentary online for educational purposes. Instructors posting grades up for students and posting up study guides. There are tons of impressive points computers can accomplish – but has anyone ever thought about the imperfect concepts of using computers? David Gelernter, the author of “Unplugged: The Myth of Computers in the Classrooms,” used ethos, because he showed both sides of the arguments to prove why computers occasionally can be helpful and not as useful. He also used logos and pathos to give the reader the reasons and evidence to support his arguments, to prove that most people are taking advantage, and to prove that technologies aren’t improving the learning process for students. …show more content…
According to Gelernter, “Computers should be in the schools. They have the potential to accomplish great things.” (Gelernter, 97). In other words, Gelernter believes that’s computers can be helpful resources for students and instructors by accomplishing work. He gave examples such as, “right software”, and “teach neglected topics like art and music”, to show the reader the positive points of the use of having computers in school for students. The beneficial resources for using computers for students, is completing papers for classes and internet usage – compare to instructors, collecting data and make it easier for them to plug in grades.
