Settings - In this story of Louie Zamperini there were many encounters of different places he went to. One of the place Louie stayed was in Torrance, California for about seven years and he spent his childhood days there growing up. He was a big trouble maker growing up like for instance he would get in trouble for fighting, drinking, and for other events that occurred. Secondly some of the suspense of the book occurs in Ofuna, Japan. This is where Louie and Phil experience the intense feeling after being beaten to a pulp and they hung on to their soul just enough to stay alive until they won the war. This setting was probably one of the most harshest places they experienced on their journey. Another setting is in Hollywood, California, and…

In the Vietnam trilogy of films, Stone admits to having learnt something about the concepts of pain and suffering. Through the movies, he became in touch with his suffering on `The Platoon' as a soldier. Then, after the Vietnam experience, Stone could live through the experiences of Ron Kovic in a wheelchair and empathize with what his brother in arms went through. Finally, through Le Ly, he was able to empathize with the experience of a Vietnamese peasant girl among other innocent victims of the war. The trilogy of Vietnam films gives the director and the audience the wider picture and idea of the Vietnam War (Riordan, p. 324).…

Louis Zamperini and Sebastian’s attitude and beliefs were provoked by the others whom they affiliated with and it represented what characteristics both of them held within. Primarily, Sebastian made the decision to associate with Antonio and it evoked the contradictory beliefs that were within Sebastian. “I am more serious than my custom. You must be so too if heed me, which to do trebles thee o’er.” (II.i.185-187) Sebastian developed the urge to murder his own brother because of his initial decision to accompany Antonio and that displayed how disloyal and rebellious Sebastian truly was. Moreover, during the timeframe of the holocaust, Louis Zamperini faced excruciating pain and torture from the captors who had held him captive in Japan, but the other American captives were able to sustain his mental stability. “Though all three men faced the same hardship, their differing perceptions of it appeared to be shaping their fates. Louie and Phil's hope displaced their fear and inspired them to work toward their survival, and each success renewed their physical and emotional vigor.” (Hillenbrand 155) Louis Zamperini and his companion Phil were able to help each other restore the prosperity and strength that resided in both of them, and it truly portrayed the motivational strength that persisted in both of them. The depictions of the short-term impacts of the plot were largely accurate, including the executions of the conspirators, while, the long-term impacts, involving Hitler’s declining health and the outcome of the war weren’t depicted in the film.…
