The LH-3500A, with a large hook for jeans, is provided with a "large hook" which is 1.7-fold larger than the standard hook provided for the model launched this last January. With the large hook, this machine helps reduce the frequency of bobbin thread changing when sewing jeans or the like with thick thread. In addition, the curvature of the thread path has been minimized to improve the feed locus. This promises a strong and smooth feed of the material even when sewing heavy-weight materials for jeans.

We first found the load data required for the sizing of the tailboom jig. These data included the weight of the H125 tailboom, placement of tailboom and the maximum possible force exerted on the side of the tailboom jig during movement. Sizing of the tailboom jig involved various calculations such as the force required to topple the jig and stress present at relevant features of the…

The occupation of fulling was part of the cloth making process that was important to the refinement of finished cloth. The job consisted of compacting woollen fibers to make the cloth whiter, tighter and more durable. Wool has tiny scales all along the fibers, and when the woven wool is 'worked' by being scoured and beaten, the fibers ratchet together and the cloth becomes more compact and solid. If continued for a long time, the end result is felt for heavy clothing or hats. Woven cloth off the loom, say four to five inches wide, is washed and while still wet, is passed through an 'eye' at the top of the fulling machine. It is then sewn into a loop that may be 30' long. Rollers pull the cloth through the eye and it is 'thumped' by heavy wooden hammers tripped by a rotating drum with pegs on it. The cloth is kept moist and soapy, and is repeatedly passed around this circuit, becoming more compact and narrower in width.…

He had the idea of a machine with a needle which would go through a piece of cloth but he couldn’t figure out exactly how it would work. In his dream, cannibals were preparing to cook him and they were dancing around the fire waving their spears. Howe noticed at the head of each spear there was a small hole through the shaft and the up-and-down motion of the spears and the hole remained with him when he woke. The idea of passing the thread through the needle close to the point, not at the other end, was a major innovation in making mechanical sewing possible.…

The sewing machine is basically a textile machine. It is used for stitching together things such as fabric, paper, card, or other material with some type of thread. The sewing machine needed to be something that was functional and compact. It would need to be something that was simple to use and be able to sew faster and more efficiently then hand sewing was. Up until the time that the sewing machine was invented, women would spend great amounts of time sewing. Women would have to hand sew everything, clothing for themselves and their families as well as household items. Women also formed the majority of the labor force that sewed clothes in factories and wove fabrics in mils. The invention of the sewing machine essentially liberated these women from spending many hours a day sewing.…
