Being able to attend Tufts in Talloires without as significant of a financial burden would be an immensely valuable privilege. Learning about different parts of the world and different cultures has always been a passion of mine, and traveling to Talloires would be an unforgettable experience. Additionally, while learning French does not come easily to me, it is additionally incredibly valuable as well as exciting. Tufts in Talloires is the only opportunity at Tufts to learn French at an accelerated level in an immersive environment. My family supports me in my decision to earn a higher education, however, they are unable to provide me with financial help. Having the opportunity to take on the challenge of exposing myself to a new culture without worrying about the resulting financial challenge would not only alleviate stress, but it would also allow me to focus more and get the most out of this incredible experience.
While I have enjoyed learning about the world my entire life through books, school, and the internet, I have yet to to see it. My favorite classes have always been those about other countries and cultures, and I have always aspired to one day see the many different places I have learned about. Surrounded by friends and classmates at Tufts that have travelled to places I have never even heard of, my interest has only grown. The
Sophomore year of high school I struggled through memorizing hundreds of dates, places, and people, yet I ultimately fell in love with not only what I was learning, but also with the challenge of learning it. The rich history of kings, religion, and art vastly contrasted the small town where I am from. I found an escape in my readings every night despite their length.
