The schools were intended as an alternative to the out-right extermination seriously advocated by Generals Sherman and Sheridan(Rothenberg & Mayhew, 2014). The author also compared the Indian children’s experience to Nazi concentration camps. Thus when evaluating the Psychological experience of the Indian children, the only reference was those of experiences of white children. Again the text reads, “ difference if from ours- the shock to the child upon arrival is still tremendous.”(Rothenberg & Mayhew, 2014)…

Portraying the connotations of the color red is painless, blood, war, anger, etc., but I wanted to challenge myself for this second piece. I chose the color yellow because it is predominantly positive. It represents youth, joy, and sunshine, yet until recently I have always viewed it rather negatively. The right hue almost evokes a sense of nausea, and so I used this feeling as the concentration of the…

It’s easy to see that she is mourning the death of her mother and holds her stepfather accountable for her mothers suffering. Through the uses a vivid imagery Trethewey is able to show that the true enemy of those few days spent inside was her stepfather and not the ice storm. The couple I asked to help me with this assignment was my brother and his wife and they were more than happy to help. They have been together 16 years, but only been married since February of this year. When we discussed the first question, “You can’t make anyone love you and nobody can make you happy.” My brother said that this is not true, that his wife makes him very happy, but it was his choice to allow himself to love her, and her choice to love him. My sister-in-law said that a person can only make you happy, because you allow them too. If a person is happy about something or someone it is because it is the choice they made. The second statement, “Try all you want; you'll never change your partner. However, if you change yourself, your…

Always Smiling, always is a piece is by Russell Noto created in 2014, and is located on the first floor of the Jen library. This piece jumped out at me for many reasons; it had this complex and thought out color scheme, you had light and happy colors in one and then ominous dark colors to really pop out against the white wall background, and with it consisting of two parts you had to do a double take to ponder if they were just obscenely close, or if these very different works of art were actually one whole in the greater layout of everything. After you get to spend some time truly appreciating this piece the overall idea of how people feel we must hide certain emotions becomes more and…
