For my fourth term project I investigated the trigonometrical applications in a game of soccer. Soccer uses trigonometry in many aspects. The purpose of this experiment was to find the effect of the distance ran before kicking a soccer ball on the distance the ball travels. The data collected shows that as the distance ran before kicking the ball increased, the distance the ball traveled increased. In other words, the farther back the person started running towards the ball, the farther they were able to kick it. When starting at 0 meters, the person had an awkward kick because they weren’t able to get a running start, making the ball not go very far. However, as soon as they were able to start further away from the ball, at 1 meter, the ball went a lot farther because they had more momentum going into the ball. The hypothesis was if the distance before kicking a ball is increased,…

The third type of deception that I would discuss is exaggeration which is the overemphasizing of something for the better or for the worse. Mostly all people exaggerate to convey someone from doing something. Even in one of the most watch sports players exaggerate in order to have a chance in winning. The certain sport that I am talking about is soccer. Soccer players just seems to have such low pain tolerance because they will roll around like they’ve been shot any time they fall. One time I was watching a soccer game with my dad and grandpa and I will see players falling for no reason. I later understood that the strategy for this soccer players is to make the referee call a foul on the other team to have a higher advantage than they did…

The forwards need to score as many goals as possible and the defense needs to block any chances of a goal coming to their goal. The goalie is very important too because she/he is the one that keeps the other team from scoring, by blocking all the possibilities with their hands, feet, or even their body. This topic was chosen because of my love for the beautiful game of soccer. Soccer has been my passion since I was a little boy. My father, being a very big soccer fan, influenced my love for the game. We would watch games almost daily and play together. I’ve been playing soccer since I can remember. And to this day, it is my favorite sport. As I got older, I kept playing soccer but I also got a lot more interested in the statistics of the game: top goal scorers, most assists, etc. I am also not considered to be a tall player amongst my teammates. I am 5’5” and normally one of the shortest players on the team. With this investigation I will be able to actually know if height does or does not affect how many goals a soccer player scores in a season. This all lead to me picking this topic because I want to know if height affects the ability for a soccer player to score goals.…
