A Series of Unfortunate Events and Moist Grainy Sand
Life is filled with memorable people, places and things. Some you will hold closer than others. One will be more significant than anything else. You’ll love these things, and you’ll wish you didn’t at times too. It is all a never ending cycle. I have someone in my life that I hold above even myself. Her name is Andrea.

Andie and I have known each other for over four years. We’ve been best friends since almost the very beginning. This girl is like the sun, always shining somewhere. The size of her heart is immense. She could cheer me up from a mood from hell. She’s been by my side through thick and thin. I really don’t know how she does it, it is an absolute mystery to me. I cant even cheer myself when I get in some of my horrible moods, and she just shows up and things are great again.

One thing Andie and I love doing is spending time at the beach. The crisp salty air, the crush of the waves on shore, and the moist grainy sand between our toes is sweet serenity. We sit and talk about life, what we aspire to be, where we want to travel, and how we can incorporate each other into our futures. We were absolutely inseparable until about 6 months ago, when a series of unfortunate events happened in my life and I became more secluded.

Our friendship has survived through everything. Boys, girls, rumors, jobs, and anything in between, nothing has separated us. We hang out as much as possible, keeping our relationship strong as ever. She listens to my rants, and cries better than anyone else. Andie is truly a gift in life, and I hold her closer to heart than family. She’s better than family. I didn’t have to pick her, and she didn’t have to pick me. I guess something’s just happen for everyone’s best interest, Andie and I are definitely in each

Over the years that I’ve been at Burdick, I’ve gained many great friends, but I also lost a few. Only a few selective of them, I tell my secrets to. For example, Kaiden, Coreena, Dakota, Elysium, Joelle, Jose, and Isaiah. They’re the greatest friends anyone could ask for and have. They’re loyal, truthful, understanding, funny, witty, sarcastic, and just plain awesome. I have them to thank for making ordinary moments, extraordinary. They’re always there when I want to hang out or vent out my feelings. They put in that extra effort to understand me for who I am, not caring the slightest bit about my flaws and imperfections. And if I ever need to shed some tears, I know that at least one of them will be there to comfort me. There are times where…

My best friend Sedona Love taught me something this year, something I would never have had seen with my own two eyes until she showed me. She taught me that when I am having trouble at home or life isn’t treating me so well, that she will always be there to listen and give their best input. She may sometimes be sarcastic, silly, goofy, mean, crazy, sometimes plain out embarrassing, and even care too much, but in the long run she is always going to be there to listen and not talk, hear without judging, and be there with nothing in return. In class sometimes she can be pretty critical but I know that’s just how our relationship works. I may get called silly, stupid, a dumb blonde, an idiot, but when I need my best friend the most I know that she will be there for me. When I needed a shoulder to cry on or when I needed a hug the most she was always there for me, when I felt there was no sense in life she showed me there was way more to life than I thought. A couple of weeks ago I went into severe anaphylactic shock and she was right there, she brought me my backpack and the things I needed most at the time. She stood up for me when my so called friends were talking behind my back not really knowing what was going on. She was also the only one who cared enough to call me and see how I was doing, she put everything aside just so she could make sure that I was okay. Not…

Although I am only sixteen, I have met thousands of people during my lifetime. Over the years I have made friends and lost some, met teachers and seen them retire, and flown half way across the world to visit family members I rarely see. All of these people have influenced me positively, negatively, and sometimes in both ways; however, only a few have truly shaped me into the person I am today. Mrs. Ping, Bess Neiblum, Emma Marsho, Pavani Samala, Usha Samala, and Jagadishwar Samala all played and continue to play a major role in helping me achieve…

Well I didn’t truly believe that until I met Stevi. She is the complete opposite of me. She is outgoing, strong, courageous, and a rebel, while I define myself as a shy, quiet-natured, and simply, normal rule follower. We started our friendship that first day in third grade and continued it on until sixth grade. Those three years were filled with adventure and thankfully no depressing moments. That was until my mom told me the news, which changed my life forever. My mother received a job in Florida, 1,130 miles away from my best friend. We were both devastated and yet again, I hoped we could stay in contact. But unlike before in my life our friendship had a different outcome, that is because I visited her and my father every summer and winter…

I was spending the day with one of my best friends. We went to the mall, sat in a café and went to the movies afterwards. I hadn’t seen her in quite a long time and enjoyed the day with her. We talked about all the things that we missed out on in each other’s lives since we last saw each other. At the café we had a great and lively conversation about just girly things but also about our futures. I value intellectual and meaningful conversations like that a lot, especially when I know that not only her but also I can open up and share fears or desires about my future.…

The setting of this book was the North Sea. The location was between Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France. It took place in the 1902 when a man receives a letter inviting him to a trip on a good yacht. The place was at first very uncomfortable, the climate and the wind change during the novel. I thought that the author pick this place because the North Sea is one difficult to navigate, you have to be brave to navigate into the sandbanks.…

My friend Liz is the most amazing friend anybody could ask for. We’ve been through so much together, we’re basically like sisters. We met on the first day of school in sixth grade, both of us terrified by the massive size of the middle school. She had the locker right above mine. I told her I didn’t know anybody in our class and she said “You do now.” We’ve been friends ever since. Most boys think Liz is cute. She has long red hair, cascading over her shoulders. She laughs about everything and when she does, you see about a hundred white teeth – so bright, you almost need sunglasses. When she laughs, her eyes grow wide, glowing emerald green. Liz likes to dress kind of skater-ish, in camouflage pants, sweatshirts, and wristbands. But, she’s unpredictable, too. Sometimes she’ll wear overalls or a fancy dress. She must have three closets full of clothes, because she barely ever wears the same outfit twice. Liz is the most lively, animated character I’ve ever known. She’s always rushing around, trying to get the latest scoop on everybody. It’s like she’s in the FBI. Right before she shares important news, Liz tosses back her hair, takes a deep breath, and quickly looks side to side, to be sure the coast is clear. She never says anything mean about people, she just wants to know what’s going on. She always supports me in everything I want to do. Not many girls in our group of friends play sports, but when I told Liz I wanted to go out for basketball, she said “Go for it.” Now, she comes to see almost every game I play and cheer me on. Not only is Liz a tremendous supporter, she also trusts me to give her my honest opinion and to say what I feel. Last year, she thought Mrs. Jones gave her a lower math grade than she deserved. I told her the truth – that Liz handed everything in late and what did she expect? Next marking period, Liz got her work in on time, and pulled off an A-. Thanks to me, she said. Liz is a wonderful…

The first time Becky and I considered one another an item, it seemed weird because we had always grown up best friends. We had never intended to be more than that but after spending countless hours together, we began to realize that our friendship started to develop into something more. At first, things were going really well. She was always really adamant about spending as much with me as possible, and we were always together. We would sit around my house and watch movies as we ate popcorn and acted like your typical adolescent couple. The only difference was this wasn’t puppy love to me, this was the real thing.…

We met on the first day of school when I was in the sixth grade and she was in the seventh grade. She was having trouble finding a class because she was the new student and she asked me if I could help her out. I told her of course I could because I was going to that class as well. When we got inside she whispered to me, “I’m kind of nervous because I don’t know anybody at this school and I said “You do now.”We’ve been friends ever since.…

One sunny, Saturday afternoon I was hanging out with my friends and we decided to go to the mall. We were walking around just walking into stores when we saw this cute, little toy store. We walked in and the first thing I saw was this cute doll. It was love at first sight. I knew I had to have this doll. Well that day we had been on a tight budget so we did not have a lot of money to buy her. We started counting all our change and all the money we could find. Finally, we counted just enough to buy Rubi. I was extremely elated. Knowing that she was mine was so splendid! She was my new best friend. She means so much to me, and ever since I bought her, I have not let her go. She comes along everywhere with me. She is my good luck charm. Whenever I feel unsure or nervous I just hold her tight and I know that she will be there for me and she will not leave me. I do not know why she makes me feel so good if she is just a small doll but I do not care. All I know is that I love Rubi. I know that as long as I'm with her nothing bad could happen to me.…

Each one of us had had that one person in our lives who changed our lives; that person without whom we could never have achieved all the things we have achieved. This is the person in our life who teaches us, how to tell the difference between right and wrong, make better life decisions, and get on the path of righteousness. Some might find that person in the form of their friends, parents, life partners and some might put God in place of that person. For me, my mother has been the most important person in my life. She helped me take all the good decisions in life, supported me in times of misery, celebrated with me in times of happiness and was always by my side. I found a good friend, a great mentor and a knowledgeable teacher in my mother.…
