The first character is John Hammond. John Hammond is a rich old man and because of that he can afford an island. Due to the fact that he is rich he can do whatever he wants. Also Hammond absolutely adores dinosaurs,that is why he got the idea to make dinosaurs in the first place. In the story he says “We have investors to consider."(Crichton) He wants to make sure the investors will still give him the money.
