To The Game That Changed My Life Analysis
To the game that changed my life, thank you. I remember the day that you found me, in a store full of strings and cleats. You helped me pick out a gray and pink stick with pink goggles and a mouth guard. On that day in 2008 you strengthened me in one of the hardest times of my life, when my Dad was on the other side of the world fighting for our country. You have strengthened me multiple times since. You have continued to be the single most consistent aspect of my life my life. You have stood as my outlet, my friend, and my teacher. You have taught me, provided for me, and given me the most memorable of memories. Thank you for empowering me in torn up cleats and dirty uniforms. I don’t think I will ever be able to repay you. When I have …show more content…
A team who I have been with in the best of times and the worst of times. These girls have taught me how to be a teammate and how to work together. As much as this team is a group of the most unlikely people, we are the strongest group of people I know. Thank you for giving me the best teammates that I could ever ask for and for all the pasta parties and late nights of bonding that comes with that. Thank you for providing me with coaches, good and bad, whom I will never forget. Role models and encouragers who have taught me more about life than any other person has, they have taught me how hard work and have shown me how pain can pay off in the end. Thank you for providing me with all the warm days, bus rides, and large turf fields which have given me some of the best times that I could imagine. Thank you for every warm-up song, hair ribbon, and water bottle. Each of my pairs of ragged cleats, pinnies, and broken sticks. Every bruise, scratch, and piece of dirt that I have been covered in. These have all become a permanent part of me. To the game that changed my life, thank you for helping me grow up. To my dear friend, “the fastest game on two feet,” thank you for being the one aspect of my life that I have always been able to rely on. To lacrosse, thank you for making me,

They’ve always been there. They will stand by your side and never give up on you. Even on your worst days, they’ll stick with you because they believe in you. I love being a Lady Knight because of how close we all are. When we step out onto the court, we’re different than other teams. We’re one big efficient TEAM. We are fallible, but knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses has enabled us to play according to one another, and succeed. We’ve put aside the small differences we may have and gained each other’s trust and respect. We spend day in and day out together, in school and out, and this, I really believe, is what makes us a whole. I don’t know what I’d do without you guys… Finally, being a Lady Knight has helped me, I believe, become a better individual myself. It has shaped me, molded me, and changed me for the definite better. I hold more confidence in myself and my abilities as a volleyball player in the two years that I have played for the Lady Knights than I probably would have gained over a lifetime. I am truly honored to have played with such a remarkable group of girls, and have a coach that is the absolute best anyone could ask…

Our second game was against the former coach for UNA, Jason Anderson. Coach Anderson was the original coach who offered me a scholarship to UNA. The tension was high, due to familiar faces. We ended up having to play them twice and we beat them both times. After winning all four games we reached the Championship series. Humbolt, from New York, was our biggest obstacle we had to face. The team with the best two out of three wins was to be named the National Champs. The first game we played, we lost to Humbolt. The loss hit us hard and our spirits were down. All season we had not faced a pitcher that shut us down completely. Walking to the locker room after that loss, felt as if we had already became runner up in the Championship series. Beating Humbolt twice the next day, seemed to be an impossible task. We sat in silence as tears ran down our faces. Our coaches let us cry and let us get our emotions out. She knew the pressure we felt and the adversity that was staring us in the face. After 30 minutes of silence, one of the players brought up the games we had to play against UAH. Another player mentioned the victory against Valdosta, and we were instantly reminded that we were capable of anything. We knew that all of the hard work we had put in was not going to waste. We were not going to settle for anything else but a National…

A loud whistle blows, signaling the beginning of another game that has a predictable outcome. My teammates and I face our intimidating opponents, swallowing the defeat we have already accepted. Our game is field hockey and our school has not had a winning record since 2012. It is a challenge to only be known as the team that is easily vanquished, but still, we persist on throughout the season. Practicing every day with only eleven players, trying to surpass our team’s stereotype, but not improving at the rate necessary to be evenly matched with our rivals. The lessons learned from the realm of sports can be translated to life. The challenges that I face with field hockey have helped me gain qualities such as tenacity, sportsmanship, and patience.…

I started to get that swelling feeling in my throat and my eyes started to water. The next batter steps into the box and the crowd is going absolutely nuts. Everyone knew we had this in the bag, we just to finish it. The next pitch was slow motion. My heart sank as I saw the ball hit the sweet spot of the bat. All the cheering, all the yelling faded into the background and in that moment all I could hear is my own heartbeat. Again, here came Carley saving the day once again. She snatched up the ball and lightly tossed it to first base. Before the ball even got into the glove I was sprinting towards the mound. I felt like my feet weren't touching the ground I was running so fast. It was a moment of pure bliss. We worked so hard for this moment and everything paid off. As we were hugging in the circle I realized this is it. This was the last time I would play with the 5 senior girls. The tears started to stream down my face as I looked at one of the seniors and she said in a way so meaningful “ You stepped up to the plate and I couldn't be more proud of you Mo”. Again, I start to reflect. Softball has brought me so much happiness and I will be forever grateful for the friends that I've made along the way. I wouldn't trade the 6:30 am practices, the team dinners or the practices in the blazing heat. That last inning I carry with me throughout my life. So when I look at the trophy that's displayed in Tahoma high school, that last inning runs through my head like a movie and it all comes…

At this point I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I responded,” Thank you coach. I appreciate you taking me.” Hudson 4 I have been playing club and school volleyball ever since. Each year I play, I gain more and more self-confidence which allows me to mature. Volleyball molded me into the person I am today. I learned many skills and tips in volleyball as well as life itself from being part of a second place district champion team to being team captain two years in a row. The nervousness and tenderness of being that rookie freshman had faded. I am now the leader that I would not have thought I would have been. The sport taught me what it’s like to achieve something much greater than the original goals I set for myself. Volleyball will forever be a part of me.
