Throughout the book Scout is good hearted, thoughtful, and intelligent. These traits are what make her such an interesting character in the novel.

Her teacher was nice enough to give the student some money for lunch because she felt bad for the child but the problem was that the student was poor and had no money to pay the teacher back.
