This is a speech, for a speech class about saving money with coupons.
What would you do if you had extra money? Would you take a trip somewhere far away. Would you go on a wild shopping spree? Would you buy yourself something you wanted for a long, long time? Well, I can not tell you what to do if you have extra money, that is up to you. What I can tell you is how to get some extra money.

You can save money by using coupons at the grocery store. It is not difficult. You just need to know the basic differences between coupons, and a few other basic strategies, to start saving lots of money now. There are three major types of coupons.

The first type of coupon you need to know about is the store coupon. Store coupons are issued by grocery stores.

These coupons can usually be found in the newspaper on Mondays and Tuesdays. These store coupons were taken from The Racine Journal, Monday, June 24. (Hold up) Page 1 of your handout shows some examples of typical store coupons.

In some areas, store coupons are mailed directly to your home. Home mailers look like this. You will usually receive these mailers every week, on Monday.

Store coupons are store specific. You can use store coupons only at the store that issues them. For example, if you have a Kohl's Food Emporium coupon you cannot use that coupon at Pick and Save. Usually somewhere near the bottom of the coupon, the store will print something to the effect, good only at Kohl'sFood Emporium.

The second kind of coupon you need to know about is the manufacturer's coupon. Manufacturer's coupons are issued by the manufacturer for savings on a specific product.

There are some typical examples of manufacturer's coupons shown on page 2 of your handout.

You will find these coupons in your Sunday newspaper mixed together with the sale fliers. There are two or sometimes three booklets of manufacturer coupons in your Sunday newspaper. The booklets look like this. I took these from The Racine Journal Times, on Sunday, June 23, 1996.

You can use manufacturer's coupons at any store that
