The Weeknd Music Analysis

There is a saying that states “everyone is in title to their own personal opinion”, and their own point of view of thoughts. With that being said, a formal criticism can be use when defining art in everyone’s eyes. Art exist in its own sake, therefore, art is not only paintings or sculptures but also music. Music can be criticize in several different ways depending on one’s personal opinion and point of view. My formal criticism on the art of music will be followed upon the artist (The Weeknd); in addition, lyrics to one of his songs “shameless” and the type of song shameless comes about.
First of all, to my understanding the weeknd primary songs are related to intimacy. The weeknd songs can be defined into three parts, love, and sex and fucking. The artist has several songs that
The tempo of speed for the song shameless is mix with largo and lento. I think the slow tempo of the song brings about calming nerves and relaxation. Furthermore, the beat that makes up shameless is a pattern that is repeated throughout the whole song which gives the song its own exclusive pop. In addition, shameless has a beat breakdown that pulses and fades and then bounces back up to its regular beat; the beat breakdown gives the listener a focus point of the music. Also, just as paintings and sculptures are define in texture by their roughness or smoothness; well, the texture that would define shameless would be homophony. Homophony is the most common texture in music and shameless has a very clear melody chords supporting it.
In conclusion, music is a form of art that has varieties of thoughts and opinions according to one’s formal criticism. My formal criticism of music would be define by my favorite artist (the weeknd), and favorite song played by the weeknd shameless.
