Perfect Wedding

It was the eve of her wedding day; Lisa was so nervous she woke up trembling in her sleep. She was so nervous she had sweat dripping down her face. She was excited, but yet scared at the same time, about what tomorrow would be holding for her and the rest of her life. Lisa knew, she was about to make the biggest decision she has ever made in her life, and she was scared of that. She has always dreamed of the fairy tale wedding; finding love at first site, when he sweeps her off of her feet, and she falls head over hills for him. Well, the relationship they had was something bigger.

His name was Larry king; they first met by an old friend who introduced them over the telephone. They exchanged numbers and started from there. Who would have knew Lisa and Larry were about to get married. Lisa lived in Orlando, Florida at the time and he was in New Jersey which devastated her because he was so far away. They still had a good relationship, he called every night and she would talk on the phone with him until one of them fell asleep. Over time their relationship grew.

One day, he called her out the blue and told her he was coming to live in Orlando, Florida. She was so excited; she knew they would be together. As soon as he came down, he called her and Lisa walked to meet him down the road from her house. She seen him and didn’t know what to say at first. All she could do was smile at him. It was so different from him being hours away but she couldn’t complain, she loved every minute of it.

In The Member of the Wedding, Carson McCullers strictly focuses on the main character, twelve-year-old Frankie Jasmine Addams. This novel outlines the coming of age of Frankie Addams, and shows the evolution of her self-image. Frankie, as any normal preteen with self-esteem issues, continuously doubts herself throughout the story. She feels as if she is a member of nothing in the world, she belongs to nothing, and no one wants her to belong. Although it seems that Frankie has always felt this way, this was the summer that she began to feel she was not a member, and on the last Friday of August, it had all changed. As Frankie continues to struggle with this lost feeling, she takes drastic measures to force herself into belonging in the town where she lived with her father, her housekeeper, and her cousin. These actions include changing her name several times, stealing knives, the mishap with Barney, and the incident with the soldier at The Blue Moon. The only thing that Frankie believes she belongs to is her brother, Jarvis, and his fiancé, Janice, and their wedding. She constantly says, "They are the we of me", and she plans to leave home with them after the wedding in Winter Hill. Frankie Addams continues with her self-conscious thoughts and feelings while she matures and finds her place in the world.…

"Okay. Thank you," I said. "Anytime. Love you," she said. "Love you too. Bye," I responded as I hung up. I unlocked the door and opened it. When I stepped out I noticed Val was standing in front of the door. "Why are you up," I asked. "You never bring you phone to the bathroom and when you do it freaks me out," he said. "Okay?" I said. He looked me in the eyes for a second and the said," do you really not want to get married?" "I...I don't know," I said. "Well it's either all in or all out. I'm not going to be in a relationship where your not 100% committed," he said. "Val," I said as tears formed in my eyes," just give me some time to think please." "No Jen if you aren't going to be committed, how will I know if you'll even show up for the wedding?" He said angrily. "You know what if you don't give me any choice in this, we're through," I said. "Here's your stupid ring. Now get your stuff and get out," I screamed throwing my ring at him. He went into my room and packed up all his stuff and walked out, slamming the door behind him. When I heard the door close, I knew it was over. I fell down and sobbed. A few seconds later I felt someone come hug me. I looked up to see Addison. I fell on her and cried…

Muriel’s Wedding (1995), written by P.J. Hogan, explores the central notion of relationships. Relationships can be defined as the connection between people and others, and it is these relationships that allow an individual to find and/or reaffirm their identities. More specifically, Hogan conveys that individuals will always seek out others who they can form positive relationships with, which in turn can reaffirm their sense of identity. He also portrays that the outcome of a relationship is not always what individuals expect when they initiate them, and social labels such as marriage may fail our expectations and do not always indicate the true nature of a relationships.…

I was ready. I picked up Mildred at her house, she was wearing a peach dress, she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. We got to the Carnival and the first thing we did was play a game. The game was to throw wooden ball at medium size ring of fire. I wanted to win Mildred a stuffed animal as I had promised her when I asked her out. The man asked her what she wanted she said “I would like a stuffed animal of a panda reading a book. The man typed it up on his tablet and it appeared. I don’t know why she wanted a panda reading a book, I myself would have chosen something cool like a phoenix or something but whatever made her happy made me even happier. The night went on, she was amazing she was funny and so sweet, I hoped the night would never end.. Then she asked if I wanted to go on the ferris wheel, I told her that I was afraid of heights, but she said don’t worry I am here for you. I couldn’t refuse an offer to sit so close to her in a cramped seat so I trusted her. When we got on she saw how scared I was so she grabbed my hand and started singing “L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, that forever became our song. I saw that it was cold so I gave her my jacket. After the ferris wheel we decided to walk around, she was still holding my hand. We stopped by the pond looked at each other, I pushed her hair to her ear and went in for a kiss, as soon as I did the annual fireworks went off. It was a moment I’ll never forget. Instead of taking the monorail home we decided to walk. It suddenly started to rain she was looking for a roof we could go under but I…

    Wedding Crashers

Wedding Crashers was the return of the "R" rated adult comedy movie, it was the sixth biggest grosser in 2005, it is a sex comedy about two men who crash weddings to meet single woman and deceive them to get them into bed. I believe the movie "Wedding Crashers" is against feminism. The two male characters treat women like sex objects to gain their need for sexual satisfaction. The movie stereotypes women to make them seem like sex objects, disregarding their personality and intelligence. I think the target audiences are men who are in their late 20s and early 30s that are successful and enjoy humorous adult comedy.…

    Advantage Young Marriage

    • 1685 Words
    • 7 Pages

I have a confession to make: I look at wedding dresses online. A lot. I'm not in the market, but I just really enjoy virtually browsing through the gowns and imagining what I would look like in them. I'm guilty of doing the same with engagement rings, though only a handful of times. Again, not in the market. And I'd be lying if I said I've never put any thought into what song I want to use for my first dance. To anyone who doesn't know me well (or has looked over my shoulder while I'm at work browsing Gilt Bridal), I probably seem like the kind of girl who's dying to get married. But actually, if Kris, my boyfriend of nearly four years, proposed tomorrow, I'd say no. Not because I don't love him. I do. And not because I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with him. I can. And not because I'm morally opposed to marriage or anything. I'm not. I just happen to think 27, my current age, is too young to say I do. Which is why I love that the most famous bride of the year— and probably the century—was almost 30 when she walked down the aisle. Frankly, I've gotten sick of hearing everyone get all excited about celebs in their early twenties (Avril Lavigne, Kate Hudson, Heidi Montag, the list goes on...) tying the knot. And I always feel like a cynical, jealous bitch when I say things like, "Sheesh, what's the rush?" or "That's not gonna last" or "Heidi, what the hell did you do to your face?" Oh wait, that last one had nothing to do with getting married young. But watching Kate walk down the aisle, I wasn't grumbling about anything. I was giving her props. She was making it cool to get married at 29. Let me be clear. I don't think 27 is too young for all people and that every single…
