The Warrior: A Fictional Narrative
The rain beat down on the sundered battlefield as the lone warrior struggled to find shelter. In his current state he would not stand a chance should he be attacked though the piles of dead enemy and ally spoke that who or whatever had caused the sundering had left no survivors except him. He glanced ahead and saw what he thought might be a cave if he approached and it was just an indentation in the small cliff he’d most likely die here and his most likely unintentional sparing would be for nothing. He inhaled deeply and released in a painful shuddering breath he was sure his ribs were broken he decided to take his chances with the thing he hoped was a cave and started toward it. His normal confident stride now a pitiful limp from an arrow …show more content…
It wasn’t until the glowing eyes of the wolf were staring at him from the edge of the light of his small fire that he realized it was there. Acting on instinct he drew a stick from the fire before it got to brave taking his battered broadsword in the other but now that he was aware of their presence he could sense a total of five outside the small indentation it wasn’t a longtime before they struck. The first lunged from the shadows he raised the torch just in time to set it ablaze the next followed shortly after he brought his sword up and it skewered itself on the dull blade the third came from behind and nearly ended the battle, but he whipped around faster than he thought himself capable and hit it in the side with the torch it went flying into the wall and slumped to the ground he looked on incredulously wondering what he’d done then watched in awe as the fourth wolf was skewered by an arrow and the fifth howled out in pain as a shadowy figure jumped down on it. When the figure turned around the warrior gasped and pointed his sword at the figure it was an elf woman in full armor under a black cloak she had two daggers sheathed in a double scabbard and a bow in

You made a good point that I haven't yet discovered while reading the essay "Warrior Day" by Anne Bernays. While reading the essay, I was too focused on Bernays experiences at the Marine Corps Base, and I pay no attention to Bernays religious background and reaction before she went to the Marine Base. In fact, her beliefs can affect the way she thinks and react to Dave's decision. I think you did a job deeply analyze the emotion inside of Bernays. As to answer your question A, I've always been confronted to a similar situation as Bernays. Most of the time, we would "judge another by their cover", but after knowing and interacting with them, we would regret the way we think of them, and that situation happened to me several times. Also, to your…

Have you ever wondered where you would be if you would have chosen another path? Have you ever wondered how that choice could have changed your life if you would have made it? Whether they are good or bad they still come back to me. Everything we do is based upon choices. After we make those choices there comes consequences. We can never decide our consequences, they just come.…

This paper will examine the writings and opinion of James William Gibson in his publication of “Warrior Dreams”. I strongly support Gibson’s suggestions about how the world today is negatively affected by the political and popular culture. By supporting his idea I strongly agree that warrior fantasies can easily be obtained from the worlds events. He argues that the shame of defeat of the United States in the Vietnam War by such a skillfully inferior enemy. For most men, their definition of masculinity includes strength, adventure and the will to compete in violent struggles. This theory is reinforced in popular movies, television shows, music, and books that glorify this behavior and have dangerous consequences for our country and even around the world.…

The origin of a story may come from a plethora of triggers in life such as a notebook, memory, or even pure intuition. In Kingston’s novel, The Woman Warrior, she primarily uses her memory to recall the legend of Fa Mu Lan, a Chinese girl who took her father’s place in battle illegally (21). Kingston uses this familiar Chinese story that leaves a “direct personal impression” on her and links it to her own imagination (Lanning and Macauley 3). This fabricates the origin of a story that gives the reader insight on how Kingston feels about Chinese society.…

Tom wondered for what seemed to be the millionth time why Dectives were required to dress like wall-street bankers or stock analysts. At least that was the expectation in public, however the moment he had the office to himself, he unknotted his tie, slipped off the linen suit jacket, and undid the top button of his shirt, then sat back in his chair, raised his eyes to the ceiling, and tapped the tip of a ballpoint pen against his teeth. That was Tom's usual mode of concentration and contemplation, and so intent was the man's focus on the new case that all else slipped from his mind, even the recollection that he'd texted his wife. Therefore, the sudden familiar sound of her voice, accompanied by the enticing aroma of barbecue, startled him, and he immediately shot upright. The sight of Lila elicited a smile that only widened with the greeting and kiss. "Sorry baby."…

I was privy to many discussions and arguments that took place behind the backs of the soldiers’ leadership as to why they should do what they were being commanded to do by them. All too often soldiers begin to become complacent when they feel over taxed by their leadership or taken advantage of and become pathos driven when they cannot see the fruits of their labor coming to fruition during war or even peacekeeping missions; especially long deployments such as Iraq, Afghanistan or Kosovo. Achilles speech in “The Envoys Plead with Achilles” is pathos driven because it exemplifies aspects of emotionally driven complacency experienced in war due to selfish deceitful leadership, length of deployments, and a feeling that as a soldier you may receive a lack of recognition for your valiant efforts.…

Imagine a samurai, walking down a street in full body armor. With a katana by his side the man is prepared for war. This warrior can seemingly slice through any opponent with one stroke of his blade. A samurai is not only known for his picture perfect technique, but for also the codes he lives by. The way of the samurai is governed by the Bushido, which literally means, “way of the warrior.” As described by PBS, the Bushido Code, “refers to a complex set of Japanese values stressing honor and loyalty to country and family above all else” (PBS). The Bushido code makes the samurai an ideal warrior, one who only knows honor, acts from a philosophically correct way of life, and upon dishonor or defeat, performs a ritual suicide.…
