Tom starts of very immature in the beginning of the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, he ends up getting into fights and skipping school. Tom gets into trouble by getting caught from Aunt Polly and made Tom whitewash the fence. Tom had gotten out of whitewashing the fence and tricked mother boys in town whitewash it. “And the fence had three coats of whitewash on it! If he hadn't run out of whitewash , he would have bankrupted every boy in the village” (Twain 15).
