The three domains of development are Physical development, Cognitive development and Socioemotional development. Physical development is the changes that take place in a person’s body and not just the once you can physically see. It is things like hair color, weight, height, growth of bones and development of organs. Cognitive development is how the humans mind is developed. It is how we obtain information and how is processed and how it’s used. Socioemotional development is the emotional changes that we go through, the relationships we have, and our personality. It is the way we see ourselves, it is our identity. It is important to consider each domain in the study of adult development because all three of them are factors in our growth and how we are. They are all linked together and one helps lead to the other. You use your brain to help you move your body and function in your day to day life. They start when we are infants and go all the way to with us as adults. We are always growing, learning and changing, so it is with us all our lives. An example of how one domain of development impacts the other would be the physical development. If a child grows up looking a certain way that doesn’t fit in, they can be picked on or made fun of by other kids. This will have a play on their socioemotional, they may think less of themselves and effect who they are. This could also affect their physical development in many ways. They could become depressed and this could cause issues in the body and health. Depression can cause one to be physically ill, tired all the time, loss of appetite, a complete shutdown of the body.
