The Theme Of Compassion In To Kill A Mockingbird

In Chapter 15 of To Kill a Mockingbird, when Scout tries to have a conversation with Mr. Cunningham, her compassion relieves the tension of the situation. When they are about to lynch Tom Robinson, Scout decides to have manners and be polite and tries to spark a conversation with Mr. Cunningham even though these men were possibly going to kill her. But by doing this she kind of just amazed Mr. Cunningham because she is being so nice and she is so innocent that he knows this child shouldn’t see this and because of her actions she saved her family and Tom. In other sections of the novel, the theme of compassion is developed when Scout comes to the rescue of Dill. Dill had ran away from his family and came to Maycomb and hid under Scout's bed.
