The Tess Psychology
Growing up Tony Stark was a genius, and spent most of his adolescence trying to gain his father’s emotional love and support. His father was a world-famous inventor, creating the world’s first super-soldier serum, and Captain America. In an attempt to impress his father, and gain his emotional love and support, Tony builds his first engine at six, and graduates from MIT at the top of his class at the age of 17. Psychologists around the world have come to the conclusion that the level of support a parent gives to a child is directly related to the child’s mental health. The lack of emotional support from his father eventually leads to some of the psychological issues Tony struggles with in life. These issues include mistrust, an extreme sense …show more content…
This movie sees Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk, and Nick Fury work together to stop an alien invasion led by the Norse God ofMischief, Loki. In this movie several of Tony Stark’s psychological issues are brought to the surface, especially his mistrust and pessimism. When the Avengers are all brought onto the helicarrier, the first thing Tony does is plant a device to decrypt SHIELD’s files, however this doesn’t come up until later. What does immediately come up is that Tony has no trust in Nick Fury, or the other SHIELD agents. Not that Tony ends up being wrong in doing so, but he clearly does not trust the people in power. Tony has come to think that he is the only person he can trust, especially with the group of people currently around him. Tony is a pessimist, something is alway wrong, and his inability to trust boosts these ideas. He addresses these sentiments with Steve and Bruce, “ Why did Fury call us and why now? Why not before? What isn't he telling us? I can't do the equation unless I have all the variables”. Steve asks, “You think Fury's hiding something?”, to which Tony retorts, “He's a spy. Captain, he's the spy. His secrets have secrets” (timestamp) They continue to talk and Tony reveals that he planted the device into the others,“Jarvis has been running it since I hit the bridge. In a few hours we'll know every dirty secret SHIELD has ever …show more content…

In order to contain this event, the directors of SHIELD decide to drop a nuclear bomb on New York City. Before the bomb hits, Natasha finds a way to close the portal, and tells the team. Tony realizes that if they close it, the chitauri will find a way to come back, and the nuclear bomb will destroy New York City. Instead Tony guides the nuclear warhead through the wormhole, telling Natasha to close it so that the warhead detonation stays in space. Tony tells her to shut it before he falls back through, fully expecting to die. Tony is ready to do die in order to save the world, showing off his maturity. Seconds before the portal closes, Tony’s lifeless body falls back through, and the Hulk catches him.Tony however lays lifeless until the Hulk’s roar presumably restarts his heart. Tony Stark, the mistrusting pessimistic narcissistic asshole was willing to die to save the world. The heroes live, the day is saved, everything is great, and the screen fades black. Except, it’s not. Tony experiences several traumatic events in his life, and the icing on the cake becomes the chitauri invasion, kickstarting his

Treatment is care provided to improve a situation, especially medical procedures or applications that are intended to relieve illness or injury. In the Hmong society, people go to a txiv neeb, a shaman, who is believed to be a “person with a healing spirit” (Fadiman, 1997, p. 21) to cure their illnesses. A txiv neeb knows that to cure an illness you must treat the soul, in addition to the body. This is important to the Hmong because in their society the soul has a great deal of importance. In Anne Fadiman`s The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, the Lees, a family of Hmong refugees from Laos, are placed in a difficult situation when their three…

When faced with death, many prominent psychologists believe there are five stages a person endures. The stages experienced are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (Gould). These stages are tools that allow us to identify what we may be feeling. Not everyone experiences all of these stages or in sequence.…

All these people imprint so many different ideologies onto Tony and he has no idea what to believe in. On the other hand, Tony feels at home with his peers, Cico and Samuel. Cico, however, has the focus in this book. He explains to Tony the idea of the Golden Carp. Cico regards Tony as an equal and a partner in learning. The Golden Carp that Cico talks about also represents something deep inside Tony. The Carp is a symbol of new knowledge and information about the world. With the Carp and Cico, it’s a new outlook on how the Universe works. Later that night, Tony dreams. Ultima appears in that dream, and she says ‘You have seen only parts’, Ultima in the dream is vocalizing her thoughts about Tony’s perspective, ‘and not looking beyond the great cycle that binds us all’(121). She explains to him the differences between the Lunas (his mother’s family) and the Marez (his father’s family). In chapter 4, on page 41, Ultima states that “It is the blood of the Lunas to be quiet, for only a quiet man can learn the secrets of the earth that are necessary for planting- They are quiet like the moon- And it is the blood of the Márez to be wild like the ocean from which they take their name , and the spaces of the Ilano that have become their home.” Tony's mother is a faithful and passionate Catholic, believing in the importance of God and the Virgin Mary. She raises him in the hope that he will some day become a well-educated priest. Although the way they ended the story was a bit devious there are some predictions I made about the future. In the end Roger gave tony a card and said to call him sometime, in the future Tony did just that. He called Roger and thy met up to catch up on what has been going on and became good friends. Also it could end very badly, Tony could blame Roger for him being in a wheel chair and have a huge fight. The would blame each other for everything and never see each other again. Out of these two suggestions I would prefer the first one because I love one happy ending,…
