“Americans spend 19 billion a year on veterinary care for their pets. It doesn’t include the food and other supplies their pets need, which it adds up to 47 billion a year. Americans are spending more money on their pets than the federal government spending on welfare grants.” (Bilger). A number of money people spend on their pet could be better used elsewhere. This is absurd, unnecessary, and out of control. A pet is the perfect example of unconditional love, it will not be mad at you if you leave for a week, your pet will love you no matter what. One may argue and quote "But I want the best items for my pet and become happy." That is great but a pet will not understand the value of an expensive bed or meal and be grateful.
