The Prefrontal Cortex
Description: The prefrontal cortex is a part of the brain, which is called the frontal lobe, specifically it is the section (which is located at the top of the brain), that is responsible for helping us consciously with: judgment decisions, developing problem solving techniques, paying attention to details, socializing effectively, and utilizing intellect.
EQ competency connections: The prefrontal cortex connects with the adaptability, systems thinking, and pattern recognition competencies- Adaptability-Changing one’s perception based on new evidence while juggling multiple demands certainly requires utilizing intellect and problem solving abilities. Influence- Indeed, being in-tuned with one’s natural reactions can motivate an individual that needs to spread an important message. Description: The brain stem is the portion of the brain that controls activity in the body that acts automatically, such as breathing, blood pressure, heart rate, digestion, perspiration, temperature, sleep, balance and heart rate.

Emotional self -awareness-Being able to monitor bodily changes is significant in reference to being aware of one’s current emotions.
