I go to Hughes STEM High School and it all started August 2013. It was me and my friends Brianna, Passion and Karl. We were in Ms. Vagedes class together. We all didn’t work hard enough and we talked with each other too much.
But I think I’m moving to fast so lets start from when I was moved to Mr. Frecker’s homeroom with my three BFF’s “Best Friends Forever”. I sat next to my BFF Passion and I was behind my other BFF Brianna. I sat next to them during every class so of course we would sit with each other during English class. I began to lose focus during English class and I was working on my assignments less. Most of my time was spent talking to Passion, Karl and Brianna.
Then it happened, I failed English class first quarter. I wasn’t devastated, shocked maybe but at the time I really didn’t care. I still continued doing what I was doing first quarter. Talking to my “Besties” Passion Karl and Brianna and hardly working but I did maintain a C for a while until I stopped doing my independent reading and went from a C to a D. But even then I was bothered cause I figure I would ace the exam. Oh how wrong I was. Although it wasn’t an A I did pretty good with a B, considering I was asleep through most of it, and I figured I would pass the semester. Unfortunately that was not the

A theme is the string that ties to entire story together. It is constant throughout the entire plot and connects the concepts to a bigger idea. However, the theme can do more than just that. Themes have the power to make a statement about a greater idea. It allows the story to be applied to some type of real world scenario. In “Mrs. Sen’s” by Jhumpa Lahiri the theme is able to be applied to a larger scenario regarding those who come to America from a foreign country. Lahiri is able to make a statement that is greater than the story. She uses Mrs. Sen to express to the reader what life can be like for an immigrant. Mrs. Sen must relearn how to live her daily life, which is and issue that many newcomers face.…

Our first stop was at kindergarten, where we thought school was just a place your parents dropped you off to get you out of their hair; which, I still believe. We weren’t informed that every year the school work got harder, that there where no more letters to color in, or numbers you could count on our fingers, or even that some of the teachers got meaner, but through all of that we came along the best nail in the track, which is best friends.…

Theme is one element that contributes to a reader’s response, theme is the unspoken thought an author is conveying to his/ her audience. Wordsworth’s poem She Dwelt among the Untrodden Way may be interpreted to have a specific theme of the loss of person who is portrayed to be isolated. When the poem comes to a mysterious end we are left wondering who the subject is that has passed. “The poem ends with a final mystery regarding the speaker’s relationship to the dead girl.” (Robinson, Daniel, 2010 p 79)…

For the first time we had classes without each other. No big deal, we just met after and it seemed like nothing was going to change us in the begining. Suddenly being around new people was exciting and soon meeting at passing was just that, passing. But, we still had the bus rides and we sat next to each other sharing every detail of our day like best-friends do. Then came the boys, and their cars, so the bus rides faded away as well. Believe it or not this was only six months into our freshman year! Six months, after all those years. I didn't make it through that first year before deciding Alternative-School was a better fit for me. It was 5 miles from Kim's school, but it might as well have been half-way across the…

In middle school the only grades I had from 6-8th grade were “A’s” & “B’s” I only got a “C” once. I thought that was going to happen in high school, but no. I made new friends and got very comfortable around them. I remember walking into my biology class, and I was the last one to go in. I’m really shy so I was scared to sit next to total strangers, there was one seat left. There were three girls and I knew one of them from middle school. It was really awkward for about a week, then we all started talking to much. We all became amazing friends. There names are Jessica, Brooke, and Claire then another girl started talking to us, Nadia. We had so much fun at school, so we decided to hang out somewhere out of school. We were gonna go to a place called “Get Air” it’s a trampoline park. Claire and I were gonna take the bus , we were going to meet Jessica and Nadia there. Sadly Brooke wasn’t able to go . We still had so much fun there, even though we got in trouble a lot for doing flips and running in areas where there were little kids. We all had a feeling of a great time making eachother laugh with dumb jokes, laughing at each other for getting injured, and we were happy seeing each other happy. It’s like the song from Black Eyed Peas said “ I Gotta…

When I started fifth grade in the fall, I still didn’t really have friends. It’s a small town, so these kids had grown up as friends, so I was the outsider. Throughout the year I had people to sit with at lunch and to talk to during class, but I didn’t get invited to sleepovers and I didn’t really hang out with anyone other than Dani and her family. Towards the end of the school year, I finally started to make some friends. In the summer between fifth and sixth grade, we moved back to Florida and I started at a new elementary school in Melbourne. Back to square one. Whoop dee doo.…

    Highschool Journey

I am sixteen years old and currently attending my grade 11 year at Mississauga Secondary School. Every year feels like a new beginning. That was the joy about high school. You make a whole new load of friends, lose the old and regret the forgotten. I remember the first time I stepped into MSS. I was nervous but excited. It was not hard to make new friends, but leaving your old ones behind was the hardest. I was too caught up with all the excitement and did not realize what I was becoming. I wanted to become friends with everyone. All that mattered at that point was not to overlook anyone. My first year of high school was the most remarkable year because that was the year when I got to know everyone. But it was not a matter of time when I started to separate the real from the fake. I met Emily in grade 8, ever since; we have become the best of friends. We have had our ups and downs but we fought through it together. She helped me when I was at my lowest and when I was in the need of a mentor. A friend like Emily is difficult to find. Where ever there were girls, there was drama. In high school, “bitch” was the famous “Hi, how are you”. People were selfish, rude and unappreciative. The first year of high school is always the worst but in the end the laughter and stories are the best.…
