The overuse of electricity affects the ecosystem in several ways. The overuse of electricity can lead to an increased carbon footprint, increased climate change, reduction in supply, and high energy costs. The abiotic factors that contribute are electricity, smoke, temperature, climate, and mining. The biotic factor that affects it is people. Leaving your laptop plugged in all the time will use up 300 kilowatts an hour each year. A natural consequence of overusing energy is increased costs for you. Your wise use of electricity can translate into reducing savings in energy bills and also the need for other purchases. People need to stop being lazy and unplug or turn off unused things. It’s important to address this idea because it affects people all over the world. The average electricity bill is $50-$300. Paying $300 for an electricity bill is too high, just reduce the time spent using them and the bills would be lower. If we didn’t address this issue the demand for electricity would be high, even higher bills, the ecosystem would be badly affected.
Factory pollution affects the ecosystem in different ways. The ozone layer is greatly affected. Factory pollution adds to global warming, the ground-level ozone is detrimental to human health by causing or worsening respiratory problems. It negatively impacts ecosystems by damaging vegetation. Each year the ozone causes $500 million worth of reduced crops.
Taking really long showers is harmful to the environment because you are using more energy, which means more fossil fuels need to be burned, which means you will release more CO2. This causes global warming. Using water means it will need to go to a wastewater treatment plant to be cleaned. This also requires energy, and the treatment may not be perfect, which means some of the contaminants in the shower water (soap, etc.) may end up in the environment.
