Ms. Rodriguez placed an order Lafonts eye glasses and a set of doctor-prescribed Ciba Vision contact lenses on that site, DecorMyEyes.com. The total cost was $361.97. The next day, a man named Tony Russo called to say that DecorMyEyes had run out of the Ciba Visions. Pick another brand, he advised a little brusquely. Ms. Rodriguez, informed him she did not want another brand she then asked for a refund. Mr. Russo was rude and asked what the big deal was. With the contacts issue unresolved, her eyeglasses arrived two days later, but the frames appeared to be counterfeits and Ms. Rodriguez, a lifelong fan of Lafont, remembers that even the case seemed fake. Soon after, she discovered that DecorMyEyes had charged her $487 an extra $125. When she…

To begin, Florida known as “the sunshine state” hooks you in as soon as you enter the state. The beautiful palm trees blowing in the wind, the numerous orange groves you see from the roadside and the welcome center offering fresh squeezed orange juice makes you feel so at home. There are so many beautiful exotic looking flowers in the landscaping of homes and businesses. Of course, the warmer climate is the main attraction in Florida. The annual average high is 79F degrees and the average low is 57F degrees. Snow rarely falls in most of Florida, but has on occasion in the northern peninsula. Florida also has an abundant annual rainfall especially during the months of June through September. In addition, Florida is located between the Atlantic Ocean and The Gulf of Mexico, therefore it also has exceptionally high humidity and of course there is always a chance of hurricanes as well. Undoubtedly, both of these items are a major downfall to me.…

Dr. Venkataswarny, founder of The Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India has accomplished his initial goal of offering quality eye care at a reasonable cost. However, in the process he has created an empire of three hospitals and 707 eye camps that pays staff members 2/3 less than ophthalmologists in private practices for twice the amount of work. In order to successfully spread the Aravind model to India, Asia and Africa, I recommend that Dr. Venkataswarny holds off on expansion until he maximizes efficiency within the screening process. This recommendation would require a two-tiered approach: shutting down the Tirunelveli hospital and reallocating his expenses towards more pressing issues. Following this strategy, Dr. V will be moving towards a more sustainable business model that will not hold him back during his next expansion phase.…

Miracles do happen. Don’t believe me? Ask that boy whose eyes would finally be able to see how the face of his mother is much more beautiful than even that angelic face that he had always imagined while listening to the lullabies she sang for him or how his cricketing hero actually looks like or how his kingdom of sand – that the world calls as a playground - actually bore the signs of his footsteps or how the faces of his friends, who cheered for him for being specially-abled or who dissed him for his disability, change expressions on seeing him again.…

Although these states have many differences, they also have some similarities. Both Alaska and Florida are states in the United States. Florida and Alaska are also both peninsulas, a land that is almost completely surrounded by water but connected to the mainland. Both of these places have many fun things to do. In Alaska you can ski, ice skate, play ice hockey, snowboard, or go sledding because most of the year there is snow on the ground. In Florida you can go to the beach, go surfing, play volleyball, go to the boardwalk, or go to Disney…

    Aravind Eye Care Analysis

Started by Dr. G. Venkataswamy, Aravind Eye Case System was created with the idea of creating a sustainable eye care system. The mission if AECS was to eliminate needless blindness. They wanted to provide quality eye care that everyone could afford, to rich and to poor alike. It expanded itself to multispecialty eye care. AECS charged usually lower than comparable hospitals in its payable section. They followed the principle of high volume which would in turn also supplicate high quality in eye care. For patients who came in the free section, they were provided free treatment for most procedures that did not involve expensive supplies. They were charged a nominal amount of Rs750 for the cataract surgery. For those who could not afford even that, theses charges were waived. They approached eye care in a unique way. Instead of using expensive equipment they perfected their own versions of surgeries, thus ensuring that the best and quick treatment was offered to their patients. The doctors and AECS performed far more surgeries than their counterparts in other hospitals due to this. They also trained paramedics in performing preliminary tests and assessments thus reducing the load on the doctors and ensuring that more patients could be treated. Aurolab was established to produce quality products at affordable cost. AECS also ran community eye clinics, vision centers and community outreach programs. They valued their personnel. They hired young women to be paramedics. AECS organized 4-5 eye screening camps in a district every month and offered free treatment to almost 67% of the patients with the help of aid from NPCB. Glasses were provided in the camp itself or delivered in a week's time. Those who needed surgery were taken to the hospital, offered free lunch. Follow up camps were organized as a part of the out-patient check up program. They worked with the community leaders and…
