The Oppression Of Slavery In America
All around the world, slavery is still an existing problem. When we think of slavery, people tend to refer back to events like the Atlantic Slave Trade. At this point in history, it would have been very scary to be an African. Many of the slaves in the United States came from this continent. Slaves were treated very poorly, and many of them died in the process. Even though slavery was abolished in 1865 by Abraham Lincoln, it still found a way to be present in 2017 in the United States as well as many other countries.
In the article, “Slavery persists for millions in India, despite improvements” by Biswajeet Banerjee and Ashok Sharma, it talks about how India has the highest number of bonded and child laborers. The children are forced to work

They live in small houses and are forced to pay fees. Even though slavery ended such a long time ago, people have still found loopholes in the system. Human trafficking isn’t called slavery, but it still deals with taking someone away from their home and forcing them to work. It puts much strain of the people’s families, and their health is definitely affected.
Overall, the slaves living in India probably have worse of a life than slaves in America. People’s lives in India are pretty bad, even if you aren’t a slave. At least in America, we have a stable government and economy that could possibly help these people out of their situation. The slaves and laborers in India don’t have anyone to call to in a time of need. These articles definitely show how hard and difficult life can be, especially when you are forced to do heavy labor.
I think slavery, no matter where you are in the world, is bad. Many of the people that are dragged into slavery don’t deserve a life like this. They are innocent people who are just trying to live a normal life. In the articles, there were pictures of people sitting on the ground wearing masks to protect their lungs from harmful chemicals. It just isn’t right that people have to deal with this everyday. Once you hear about these tragic stories, you can never forget it. It makes people realize how lucky they are to be living a good life surrounded by people who love and support them. The people that are trapped in slavery don’t get a chance to experience that and it makes me very sad to think

In the documentary “Slavery & Making of America” (SMA) they paint a completely different picture about life as a slave. Slaves were captured, torn from their families, abused, raped, overworked and even whipped. Not to mention bought and sold as if they belonged to anyone other than themselves to begin with. Most slaves, afraid of what might happen to them and/or their family members, lived with the abuse, as they had no other choice.…

Slavery isn’t a short sweet story (as illustrated above). Slavery (a form of forced labor), contrary to common belief in the USA, did not start in the Americas, nor was it restricted to black African people; it has existed in almost all cultures and continents, and even exists to this day, in one form or another, in some places. Slavery has affected how people live, for good, and bad. Slavery made slave owners lives much easier as they get the slaves to do all of the dirty work, however, slaves live strenuous lives, and are treated inferiorly, and are considered as property.…

When looking at the time period from January 1st, 1787 to december 31st, 1862, there are many important dates and events that occurred. One of the biggest issues that has been around for decades is slavery. We can look at the statement made by a historian “The main issues people fought over in the United States from 1/1/177 to 12/31/1862 was slavery” to evaluate if slavery really was the main issue, or if there were other issues that were being fought over in the United States at this time. In my opinion, slavery was the main issue that brought on many wars, laws or acts and other disputed between people in the United States. Slavery is despondent and that's that. Whether a person is black, white, Asian, or otherwise, it is not just to be whipped, beaten, and given extremely hard jobs with no pay, maybe very little. Slavery has been a problem for hundreds of years, but it shares many of the same root causes. One of the reasons slaves are preferred to workers is because it is much cheaper to feed a slave than to feed a worker. Workers are also paid more if they are doing dangerous work, but slaves do not have this benefit. This also means that slaves are preferred in dangerous work environments. Slavery is a very profitable business overall, making it attractive to a potential trafficker (Contemporary Slavery). There have always been people trying to make money the easiest way possible, and the same is true today. Slavery has always been about producing something and that has not changed.…

We further separate ourselves from each other with our economic status, career choice, education, and other variables as silly as our music taste. We have developed and evolved in every aspect such as technology, agriculture, architecture, communication, medicine, and much more.
