The Nutcracker Analysis

I am writing a critical analysis on Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, a holiday classic. When thinking of The Nutcracker you cannot help, but get into the holiday spirit. Other than the holiday spirt it is a beautiful classical piece, full of highly theatrical scenes. The genre of The Nutcracker is of course ballet, which is considered a classical or formal dance. Ballet has gone through many changes since the 17th century, and continues to transform. But, one thing you cannot deny with ballet is the beautiful lines, and positions used throughout. Ballet no matter how evolved it becomes can still be considered the most classical genre in dance. When thinking of the overall theme of The Nutcracker, multiple themes come to my mind. One would
All of the costumes used throughout the ballet were extremely detailed, and appropriate for the scenes they were used in. The costume that was my favorite throughout the piece was The Nutcracker, they didn’t miss a detail from head to toe with this costume. The set of the ballet is amazing, it looks as though they took snap shots of their thoughts, and brought them to life in the ballet. They couldn’t have been made any better to fit the scenes they were part of. The color’s chosen throughout were all very specific to each scene, they added to the set and the theatrical entertainment. The lighting was focused on the main characters in each scene, the movement of the light helped lead the viewers eye throughout the ballet. This ballet is one that is iconic in our culture, as I said in the beginning it helps bring the holiday spirit to families around the states. The ballerinas and male ballet dancers make this piece even more complete with their amazing performances they each put forth. I know if I ever had the opportunity to see this piece in person I would take it, and many others would say the
