The Legend Of Matinya's The Red Bird
The Red Bird When I was younger I dreamed of playing in the forest all hours of the day and night watching my world’s stars move around the castle. Little did I know the castle was enchanted and keeping me safe from the evil with from Katinya. The good and handsome witch, Matinyo helped my family keep me safe since before I was born. He knew about us because Katinya is his twin sister. They were born in the world known to us as, Hethagard. This kingdom was ruled by my grandfather. Katinya and Matinyo were his sorcerers to help him see the future. Matinyo saw that his son, my father, would become the ruler of all the lands since he was the first born and strongest of all his sibling’s. Matinyo was asked to look into his quartz crystal and tell my grandfather his future and …show more content…
The twins were connected through their crystals and could find each other as long as they both have their own crystals on them. Finally, one day we had visitors. I was about ten years old and the legal age to be married was fifteen. A boy came into town with an old man and a very beautiful woman who looked just like my butler. Who in fact was Matinyo. My father’s right hand man and family’s personal helper. He was also secretly my protector. He shielded me from the visitors. Along with my father who was very strong and never showed weakness. I didn’t know it until that day, but I was able to turn into a beautiful, vibrant red bird. Matinyo came to me and told me to think very hard about what I wanted to become. I was very lonely because I wasn’t able to make friends since my family trusted no one. I was hidden away in the castle. I would always wish to be a bird. I wanted to fly away and explore. My heart wanted to wander. I felt as if I were not in the right place. I was always making my parents nervous by going to the forest. I would climb the trees over the kingdom and look out at all the small

Inhumane, atrocious conditions, which Romans had imposed on their slaves created a favorable ground for frequent outbursts of slave uprisal. In the past, during the years of rebellions, instigators were discovered and executed, and hundreds of participants were crucified often framing the roads to Rome with their decayed bodies still hanging on the crosses (60). Among the prominent leaders of the opposition movement was a legendary Red Eagle, whose words stirred up slaves spirit and spread like fire throughout the city (60, 354). Using "act" or posters, Red Eagle spread the message of fighting for equality and freedom by nonviolent means opposing assassinations with his conviction that " the rulers had as many rights to a long life as slaves"…

The Sirens in Greek mythology, were the daughters of Phorcys the sea-god. Writers generally claimed to say they were a group of three. Also that their home is an island in the western sea between Aeanea, the island of Circe, and the rock of Scylla. They are nymphs, or beautiful girls, of the sea. Their way of living was to lure mariners to the island by their sweet songs, and viciously kill the mariners. Unfortunately, mariners weren't ever able to escape the sirens once they heard the sweet songs because the sirens songs were hypnotizing. As soon as the mariners were hypnotized by the music the Sirens would then fulfill their duty and eat the mariners. Most did not know how to avoid the Sirens songs until Odysseus, warned by Circe what to do. Odysseus and his crew stopped their ears with wax and Odysseus bond himself to the mast of the ship until he was out of hearing range of the island. The Sirens were destined to live only on the island until someone heard their song without being hypnotized. Then the Sirens would fling themselves into the sea and were changed into sunken rocks. When the adventures of Odysseus were localized on the Italian and Sicilian coasts, the sirens were transferred to the neighborhood of Neapolis and surrentum. The Sirens wanted to be closer to the tomb of one of them, parthenope, was shown in time at neapolis, where a gymnastic contest with a torch-race was held in her honour. Various explanations are given of the Sirens. The Sirens were beautiful women of the sea, which is know known as deceiving calm seas. The sea is known as this because of the Sirens behavior, which is hiding their horrible killing by a deceiving smiling they show. Or, they symbolize the magic power of beauty, eloquence, and song. The Sirens images are placed over the graves of beautiful women and maidens. Another conception of them is that of singers for the dead, which they are often used in the adornment of tombs, and represented…

Due to this fact, some readers believe the “Lai of Milun” demonstrates the constraining effects of love. In their view, Milun and his mistress held onto an unreasonable relationship for twenty years. They inhibited themselves from connecting to the relationships around them and thus constraining their lives. Milun and his mistress experienced extreme dishonor after the conception of their child, forcing them to part and regain the honor that was lost within their society or face horrible consequences. Upon discovering she was pregnant, Milun’s mistress fears, “She would be grievously punished: tortured by the sword or sold into slavery in another land. Such were the ancient customs observed in those days.” (Milun 60-64). They believed that their individual social appearances were of greater value than discovering a way to rekindle the love they once shared. However, many readers fail to realize that it is the societal expectations, not love, that constrains people. The social judgements of the character’s honor restricted their love and physical relationship. Rather than fleeing the town or defying the social norms that threatened their love, they both obeyed the rules and proceeded to do what society deemed was best for them and in the best interest of their families. These actions further constrained their love by keeping them…

There are, however, cultures in which young girls have a different expectation for the moment that marriage will come for her. Rather than a dream of love, acceptance of an understanding of a woman’s role in a marriage is the focus in the minds and beings of young girls from the very beginning of life. These girls do not understand the notion of faithfulness or exclusivity because it is not their trained way of life. In some cultures, a wife is but one of her husband’s many wives, a role she must share with numerous other women.…
