The Importance Of Middle School
Middle school was rough, to say the least. I kept to myself most of the time. I had two close friends, but even opening up to them was difficult. I was not part of any clubs or sports because of the fear of meeting new people. I just couldn't build the courage to go up to new faces and ask to join their group. The thought of trying new things or talking to new people was so stressful I just did not try to get involved in any extracurricular activities.

I read the article “10 Things Middle Schoolers Think you Should Know” by Rachel Vail. There are a few connections that I made. One connection that I made was when she wrote,”I like it when you make use get up and move, it makes it fun and easy to remember”. I relate to that because I most enjoy class activities. Also, it helps me remember the assignment. When we do school activities it helps me understand and not be confused when the test comes. For example, In my teacher’s class when made posters to help us remember the math formula, I extremely agree with her on this statement…

Ever since I was a child, I was messy with my school work and maybe even with non-school related things too. I was very unorganized and with that came grades that were not acceptable to my parents and, looking more into the future, college. My mother would beg me to start becoming more organized and neat but I would not listen to her. When I started middle school, she heard about a program called AVID that supposedly helped students become more organized, helps you take notes, and helped them look into college and the future. As soon as she realized what the program was for she immediately put me in it. I took the program for all my three years in middle school and my experience, it worked. Thanks to my mother and, of course, the program she…

I rarely spoke in middle school. When people tried to make conversation with me, I’d get scared that what I’d say would make me seem lower in their eyes, so every single possible response was excessively mulled over in my head. Usually, none of my possible responses would seem good enough, so I’d either quit and return to the safety of a book —which I always had on me— or awkwardly stand there until the person left me or the conversation. If there was a social or party, I’d skip it or read in the corner. I hated it, but was too scared to do anything else. By the end of 8th grade, I resolved that I didn’t want another year where fears and anxieties would control my life. I wanted to be able to socialize and make friends like everyone else.…

As the principal of James S. Russell Middle School, my philosophy is simple. I believe that if we invest in our students and expand upon their previous knowledge, we can explore uncharted territory. By “thinking outside of the box" and striving to teach the whole child, we are destined to intersect with success. My belief is that if I continue to successfully motivate the RMS student, faculty, and staff to do their very best and extend their personal limits, the success for our division will be exhibited…

Studies say that “Waking up before 8:30 is bad for kids”. Middle School start time should start later because sleep affects the students attitudes, grades, and health. Middle School start time should start later because sleep affects kids attitudes. Kids can get forgetful and will not be able to remember everything if they do not get enough sleep. Being tired can get kids moody and make them mad at anything. The kids can even act weird or do weird things if they do not have enough sleep. However, attitude is not the only thing that is affected if a kid does not get enough sleep, grades can be affected too.…

I tried my best to fit in but arriving at a completely new area and having to make new friends was an extremely scary thought for me. I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t have any friends, and I felt isolated. All I wanted to do was go back to California to the familiar faces I left behind. As the year progressed, I was forced to break my shell and interact with others in my class gradually becoming more confident in myself and making new friends. The internal battles I had to endure in me becoming more social eventually taught me not to be afraid to build relationships. Learning this at an early stage was very beneficial to me because now I am not afraid to talk to complete strangers and even befriend…

Middle school is awesome! In the transition from elementary to middle school, it can be tough, but you will make it! One major change is having six new teachers with different rules. For example, Mrs. Provost lets you listen to any school appropriate music, Mrs. Buggy only lets you listen to Josh Groban, and some teachers don’t let you listen to music at all! Teachers have a lot of differences, but they also have a lot in common too!…

Math has been easy for me till i hit high school. I did not struggle in middle school or in elementary school. Why i think i did not struggle in middle school is because the teachers were better at teaching and actually dedicating themselves to teach the kids and for them to have a better understanding. In the past when i used to struggle in math i was confident enough to ask the teacher for help. But now that i am in high school that changed because the teacher is kind of mean and does not really teach well. In the past when i would struggle on a difficult problem i would work and continue working until i could figure out the solution. I was doing this because wen i was in elementary school i felt more like i know what i was doing instead…

Throughout my years of middle school, I have had much success in completing my goals and setting myself up for a successful future. By practicing organization and completing homework well and on time, I have been able to complete many things that I have put my mind to. Through doing these things, I have done well in middle school and gotten no less than a B in all my middle school classes. I also feel it is very important to listen and interact in class because if these actions are not completed, homework is a more difficult task. In my opinion doing well in school is more than just being smart because in order to gain true knowledge you have to learn what it is like to listen and pay attention in class. True knowledge is learning how you…

I also miss all the nice teachers and the fact that we could go outside for recess and get to run around, play, and socialize. People have also said that middle school is really tough and that you would lose a lot of friends that you were really close to. Which I have lost a lot of friends, but my true friends stayed with me. Middle school can be tough at times but I can get through it and for the most part school is quite easy.
