It starts off with Matt arguing with his caretaker, Celia. When she leaves, shortly after, Matt meets two kids outside his house talking about him. He realizes that the people working in the drug trade factories are not really people, but people with electronic chips in their brains that control them. Also, Celia, Tam Lin and Maria were secretly telling him the truth of things about El Patron, the person he was cloned from. He learns that El Patron only keeps Matt around to lengthen his life, and that Matt will die to help El Patron. Matt plans to run away with Maria helping him, but fails and is sent to the powerful drug lord. However, as Matt was about to be operated on, El Patron dies, and in the confusion, Tam Lin helps Matt run away and get to freedom. After these short chapters, the book changes to Matt new life out of the estate. As he is out of the estate, he helps arrest corrupt people in Mexico, and makes some friends. He treats all of them very well by spoiling them with treats, but in the end, they all end up dying for the same purpose, to keep El Patron alive. This is until Matt. This is why there are multiple clones in the mirror. Matt states many things throughout the book that shows he feels like a reflection of El Patron and cares about El Patron even though he knows that El Patron is harvesting him for organs to live longer. "Underneath Matt felt a hollowness. He understood he was only a photograph of a human, and that meant he wasn't really important. Photographs could lie forgotten in drawers for years. Evil is inevitable in this world, but it is the explanation of some evil that people often wonder about. The writer of “Caught in the Widow’s Web,” Gordon Grice, focuses the essay on his hunt for black widow spiders. Nevertheless, his purpose has a profound meaning. The black widow represents all of the unexplainable evil in the world. There is no explanation for the widow’s poisonous venom, nor for the malevolent people and occasions in life. Grice’s sinister tone for the duration of his work suggests that there is higher, complex meaning as to why he wrote the piece. Throughout the essay, the black widow metaphorically represents the evil and hardships in the world.…
