The Hero's Journey-Personal Narrative
“Stay calm, Theo” he whispered to himself. “Everything will work out just fine.” He tried not to move a finger, not to make any noise while the men and the boys of Zanhi loaded five wooden boats with big packages wrapped in straw and ropes, said good-bye to their families and went on board. When the ships set sail, a tall man with dark hair and thick eyebrows looked inquisitively at the group of people on the ground; he was looking for someone, he was looking for Theo. In a foul mood, the boy moved backwards through the waving shafts of wheat without a gesture. His eyes, as black as his hair, shone with a mixture of sadness and resentment at feeling abandoned by the village men. “I am sure I will have a great time. Thank you very much,” he grumbled half to himself and to the man who was leaving. Women, children, and elderly people, who remained on the shore, waved their hands as travelers went away. Theo waited for them to go back to the village and for the boats to be out of sight so that he could leave his hiding place. Before he took that last step that would take him away from his village, he hesitated. He knew it was wrong to leave like a thief in the night. He knew the path was dangerous and that he was likely to face many threats. He did not even want to think of what his family would feel if something bad …show more content…
When the seafarers saw that Theo had reached their position, they would not have any other option but to invite him on board. Theo was certain that they would not dare to send him back to the village, especially with all the dangers lurking out there. He quickened his pace, since he had to walk a long distance within a short time —almost a whole day. He pictured in his mind the surprised faces of his friends Edef and Erker upon seeing him, standing up by the lake, waiting peacefully for their arrival. His smile grew
