The Great Gatsby Journal Entry
Gatsby.....he was a mysterious person. After I got to know Gatsby more, it occurred to me what his real motives were, which was to invite Daisy, a married woman over to my house in order for Daisy to meet Gatsby again. I thought Gatsby living just across my cousin Daisy’s house was just a coincidence but this obviously wasn’t the case after Jordan told me that it was all for Daisy. Daisy was his only motive. He was madly in love with Daisy, yet it’s been five years they haven’t spoken.
There was green light in front of Buchanan’s dock that I have seen Gatsby looking and stretching his arm at not once but several times, it’s like there is something he need to have to himself and reach out to, the more I was thinking about it the more it made

“No... I think you don’t have to........ it’s too late now” said the irritated Daisy.
“It’s never late....... no......no ... it can’t be late Daisy”, said Gatsby in a cool voice.
“What do you want me to do now Jay”, said Daisy emotionally.
“Come back to me Daisy...I know you want to”, said the confident Gatsby.
The moment I saw Daisy’s face changing got me thinking that she would go back to Gatsby and that she still likes Gatsby more than Tom. I kept watching and listening.
“What....?” said Daisy seemed like she didn’t hear Gatsby and her mind went completely blank.
“You do want to come back to me, you do right?”, Gatsby slowly approaching Daisy.
“What’re you saying Jay?” Said Daisy nervously.
“You’re mine......everything is still the same”, said Gatsby.
I was about to slap Gatsby at the back of his head and tell him she’s married already. I just couldn’t go on watching them.
“It was all in the past jay and you know that I’m married already”, said Daisy.
“Past.........?”, said Gatsby.
“mmmhh”.. nodded Daisy.
The strangest thing that I saw in Daisy was every time she was answering Gatsby, she wasn’t looking at Gatsby’s eyes or maybe she couldn’t look at his eyes. The only reason could be that she was lying which means she still loves

Tom, her husband, commits unworthy actions that a husband should not do, but is very wealthy. Instead of being with a man who she truly desires to be with, she would rather be with a man that had more money from the beginning. In an argumentative discussion, Daisy communicates to Gatsby that she “did love [Tom] once but [she] loves him too” (140). Since Daisy is torn between the concept of money and love, she does not know who she desires to be with. However, a physical interaction between Gatsby and Daisy made Gatsby’s “heart beat faster and faster as Daisy’s white face came up to his own”(117). This shows that Daisy does have an attraction towards Gatsby, but prefers the benefits she receives by being married to Tom. If she was pure and innocent as her white colored face, she would not use her husband for…

with perceptible reluctance”(132). Daisy admitted this reluctantly because she had created an illusion of the perfect life with Tom, but it was just a lie. With time she had convinced herself that this lie was the truth. That was until Gatsby came into the picture and temporarily altered the way that she viewed her life with Tom. Daisy was faced with the choice of being with Tom or Gatsby. Daisy’s decision between the two men became much clearer once she realized that Gatsby would be killed in the process of covering up her crime. Nick said, “I called up Daisy half an hour after we found him, called her instinctively and without hesitation. But she and Tom had gone away early that afternoon, and taken baggage with them”(164). Daisy knew that she had committed a serious crime and Gatsby would take the fall since he was wrapped around her finger. Daisy did what she did best and retreated back to her money and reckless lifestyle, ultimately choosing Tom. Daisy’s future is set in stone when she chooses to return to Tom and his…

Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, it can be witness this misconception of love between the characters Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, whom say to be deeply in love with one another. The author portrays the inaccuracy of love and obsession through Gatsby’s persona. Throughout the novel, the story of Gatsby and his, so-called, endless love for Daisy unfolds into a greater meaning.…
