In the article “The forgotten victim of Florence and Normandie” written by Steve Lopez, an incredible victim of horrific riots shares his life story and how it affected him. Fidel Lopez suffered many injuries that changed his life forever. After being physically assaulted his beliefs remand positive. I agree with Fidel and his positivity after his injuries because I believe that violence over violence will not solve anything. Fidel chose to be the bigger person and continued his life as much as he was able to despite his injuries.

Fidel's idea of continuing to live his life as a survivor and not a victim is most meaningful to me. Not many people in the world live their life that way. If more people the world were as humble and noble as Fidel, the world would be a more peaceful place. However, our world today is still filled with riots that are caused mostly by police brutality. Because the police officer who committed the crime is almost never convicted, the world reacts with riots. Although I can understand the frustration of not being heard, riots do not solve anything. Reacting with riots will not change the judges mind. At that point, we the people should continue our lives normally. Not make our world worse than it already is. As some people choose to avenge, others don't. Our world will always be made by the decisions people make and there may not be a way to change the minds of those seeking for revenge. However, I hope Fidel's idea about living his life the best way possible after being attacked inspires others to do the same so that our world will slowly become a better place to live in.
