Thomas Jefferson was a really hard working man and did a lot of things in his life. He has a really interesting life from childhood to death. Thomas Jefferson was born in 1743 in Virginia. They usually called him Tall Tom because he was 6’2”.Jefferson grew up on a wealthy family farm with six sisters and three brothers. Jefferson went to college at William and Mary in Virginia. Before he came president he had a number of jobs he was a lawyer, he was a farmer, and he was a member of Virginia Legislature. He is pictured on U.S nickels. The memorial was built by John Russell Pope, Otto R. Eggers, and Daniel P. Higgins. The planning of the memorial was quite a task. It was starting being built on December 15, 1938 and it was finished November 15, 1939. The memorial is shaped like the Pantheon. The inspiration of this memorial was the Pantheon in Rome and the Rotunda at the University of Virginia. In the middle of the memorial there is a 19 foot bronze of Jefferson, it shines bright and draws attention. The bronze statue weighs 10,000 pounds. The Jefferson Memorial is on 18 acres of land.
