The Cheez: A Short Story
Cheez-its are banned in the cafeteria from now on, all because of what happened on November 14th. This wasn't anybody's fault. It was an awful, awful accident . Someone was trying to eat their Cheez-its peacefully when someone else made him laugh. He started to choke on the Cheez-its. He coughed and coughed and coughed and finally the Cheez-its went flying out of his throat on to the flour. Then, Mrs. Conway walked by. She was quickly walking and smiling at all the eighth grade students, who happen to be her favorite students of all time. As the loud and droning sound of the bell rang, all the children ran out of the classroom as soon as they could. “How fantastic! I can’t wait to taste the mystical delicacies of Diamond Bar High School!” Candide fought his way through the crowd, but eventually reached the lunch line. Standing in the hot sun, Candide squinted as he struggled to read the lunch menu. “Special: week-old rice with a side of mystery meat emulsion” caught Candide’s eye. Candide’s mouth watered with delight as his eyes feasted upon those words.
