Some look at leadership as the ability to lead. I agree 100% with leadership being the ability to lead, but in order to have the ability to lead you have to have more. There has to be a process of social leadership in which a person is able to aid and support others in their accomplishment when it comes to a specific task; this is a process of social influence on someone. Paying attention to how leaders carry themselves and interact with others socially giving guidance and being helpful. Leadership is also organizing a group or team of people to achieve a common goal and sometimes the leader may not have formal authority, but they are leading/guiding the group or team in accomplishing the goal.…

Before I had some interest in becoming a leader, but I did not really have the drive and confidence to carry out a leadership position. However, during my junior year of high school, I was selected to attend a leadership camp, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). There was a specific keynote speaker at RYLA and his motivational speech gave me the motivation and determination to become a leader and make great changes. His statement still sticks to me today; I live life by this statement, “Success is in the struggle.” Now, I have taken on many leadership positions and have inspired others to become a leader. I inspire others by leading by example, and encouraging them to take a step outside of their comfort zone. I also inspire by building…

The concept of passion is having the emotional drive to seek and capture whatever is imaginable. Without passion, it will be a struggle to push through the uncontrollable waves of problems that may occur. Having an emotional attachment to what one may seek, will allow them to thrive and persevere past anything. Even when times seem to be at rock bottom, and there is no climbing back up, having true passion will provide the drive to help the struggling to overcome and diligently work through tough times. Sam Grier, a motivational speaker about successful careers, explains his thoughts about the need for passion, “Regardless of your current job bringing passion to your work can lay a foundation for success. Not just success in your current job, but success for every rung you want to take up the company ladder. You may hate your job now, but the attitude you take towards it can play a pivotal role in your career. Passion is an emotion that comes from within you. It is your enthusiasm, your zeal, your drive and your motivation. You don’t want to just feel passionate about your job, you want to put passion into it.
