The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Literary Analysis
Everyone needs to treat people the way the want to be treated. In the book The Boy In the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, Bruno and his family move from Berlin to auschwitz when Bruno's dad needs to work there. Behind their house is a concentration camp that Bruno can see from his window. One day Bruno went to explore by the camp and found a jewish boy Schmuel. Bruno and Schmuel became best friends even though all they did was talk. John Boyne used description to get readers predicting throughout the story.
John Boyne uses description to get readers predicting throughout the beggining. To begin with, on page #30 Bruno said “ There were small boys, big boys, father, grandfather perhaps uncles too in striped pajamas. This quote describing what kind of people live there can make readers predict what time in history it is and what those people are doing in a camp. Furthermore, on page #31 about twenty feet further along from the garden and flowers was a huge wire

First, “Schmuel reached down and lifted the base of the fence but it only lifted to a certain height and Bruno had no choice but to crawl under it,.” When Schmuel was lifting up the fence to get Bruno under and into the camp. Readers can predict that they will not find Schmuel’s dad because he is dead and the boys might get hurt by soldiers while exploring for what they came for. Second, on page #212-213 Bruno and Schmuel went inside a room holding hands after being in a line with people in striped pajamas heading to a dark room with no light then the book suddenly ends. When John Boyne described this intense ending of them holding hands and going into a dark room with other people it can get the readers predicting they are in danger and will get killed by the soldiers that brought them in.     At the beginning of the movie, Bruno is completely naive about Germany patriotism. It has the audience curious because Bruno live in Berlin where is known as the capital of Nazi Germany. In the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne he writes about a Jewish boy named Shmuel and a German boy named Bruno.     In paragraph seven, the text says, "By manipulating the historical realities of the Holocaust for the sake of a good story, Boyne runs the risk of giving readers a distorted view of the Holocaust." This was an example of what the writer was arguing about and what they think about the book, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. The writer believes that the book manipulated some historic events in the Holocaust for the sake of a good story. To support their argument farther more, the writer quoted David Cesarani on the topic of how Bruno would pronounce some words, it says, "Young Bruno mishears “Auschwitz” as “Out-With” and “the Führer” as “the Fury.” As Cesarani points out, “any normal German nine-year-old would have been able to pronounce Führer and Auschwitz correctly.” This shows us that the author had changed the pronouncing of the words Auschwitz and the Fuhrer to out-with and the fury, this is impossible because Bruno is born in Germany and he should then also be able to speak German fluently.
