The Beauty And The Beast
I thought that the musical II attended, The Beauty and the Beast, performed by Castle View High School, was extremely well-performed with moving music. The acting was superb, the singing was exceptional, and the pit music was astounding. I attended Beauty and the Beast, a musical performed by Castle View Theater Company, on November 21 at 1:00pm. The musical took place at Castle View High School in Castle Rock, Colorado.
The plot interacted very well with the songs. The songs entwined with the plot so well, it is extremely hard to imagine this musical as just a play. The songs were placed the perfect amount of time apart so they did not feel sparse or crammed. The plot was just like the movie, but there were songs that were not in the movie, …show more content…
It was a long song and featured violin and piano. The song after that was Gaston. It was fast long and shifted moods from sad to happy. It was a very cool song that was very funny. Following Gaston was How Long …show more content…
That song had tenor vocals, clarinets and was very soft. Be Our Guest was the best song of the musical. It was fast and had great harmony. It had great vocals and had amazing acting. If I Can’t Love Her was slow, had bass vocals and was a sadder song. Something There featured flutes and had a combination of solo duets and harmony. It had a mournful tone and had low brass featured towards the end of the song. Human Again was about the people in the cursed castle hoping that they were going to be turned back into humans because of Belle. It was a very hopeful sounding song it had solos and the tempo slowed down from about 100 BPM to about 80 BPM and then speed back up. Maison Des Lunes had amazing percussion and great brass. It was fast and was a conversation within the song. Beauty and the Beast was not fast or slow. It had an amazing clarinet section. The vocals were unbelievable and it sounded perfect. That song sounded professional with the great vocals and great instrumental background. If I Can’t Love Her Reprise had a rich sound about it. It was a great solo that had a sad tone but was hopeful. A Change In Me had a medium tempo. It had a mood shift from sad to happy. The instrumental tone was good, but the brass could have some improvement on that song. Show

    I enjoyed the play because the story and music is very interesting, unique and entertaining. I have seen the play before in Las Vegas and I must say that the cast in Las Vegas was much better than the one I saw on Thursday night. The reason is because it went more in-depth with the story and also played every single hit that the band had made. Also, the singers in Las Vegas were much more professional and sounded better because the actor portraying Frankie Valli did not have such a high pitched voice as the one in Curran Theatre. My favorite composition from the band was Beggin because the tempo and beat was so fast-paced and it was impressive how the band had bright stage lights and fascinating dance moves. The music contained catchy rhythms and beats. Some notes would stretch out to make a nice vocal sound and some were just quick beats from the drums. The staging was very flashy because they had different stage lights with different colors for each part of the story. The costumes were very well suited. They actors wore fancy suits and some had a fancy top hot to match their costume. I thought the the whole play went fairly well and the audience seemed to really enjoy it.     The lighting for the show was well done. The spotlights on the performers were not too bright and made it so that they could be seen better while singing and acting. The coloring of the lights on some scenes kept the mood appropriate and made it feel like it was day or night. All of the props used were very well done and were painted beautifully. The backdrops and the things like the tree and door really made the show believable and immersive. The catwalk for the balcony and the fireplace was also very well done. All of the costumes in the musical were stunning. From Cinderella’s servant clothes, her ball dress, the fairy godmother’s pink, sparkly dress, and all of the townspeople’s clothes, all were beautiful and added a sense of time period. Finally, the sound for the show was good but could have been better. A few times the orchestra was louder than the singers and it was difficult to hear their voice shine through.
