The Aztecs: What Should History Say? To begin with, the Aztecs were a great society that formed during the years of 1350-1519; in its present day site, of what we know as Mexico City. The Aztecs believed in human sacrificing, which intern bought them to killing thousands of people each month. With them human sacrificing, it made the Aztecs look barbaric and uncivilized. However history should say that the Aztecs had a very creative and organized empire. The aspects they had, that made them a great empire, were politics/power, their economy setup, and human sacrifice. First off, the Aztecs conquered a vast amount of territory and power. In document A, it clearly describes how the Aztecs conquered a lot of land, and fast. The document clearly states, “….the Aztecs created one of the two most powerful empires in the Western Hemisphere…” The document B clearly illustrates how the Aztecs centered their cities around an eagle propped on a cactus. This meant that this was their territory and no one else’s. Furthermore, document C shares how the Aztec king wanted the Aztecs to appear strong and fearless in the others’ eyes. In document D, it explicitly shows how they had a great decision making process with calendars and seasons. In document K, it illustrates and gives an explanation on one of their systems for growing the crops, the chinampas. They were systems for growing crops efficiently, in a genius way. These included separate rows for different, foot paths (for the people to walk on), and canals (for small boats). A very different but genius way of planting crops by the Aztecs was shown in document L. It shows how they used both men and women to grow crops and do agriculture. The men planted and harvest the maize plants, while the women grinded and rolled the product into
