The Apparition Of The Ghost In Shakespeare's Hamlet

Through the use of foreshadowing and suspense, Shakespeare uses the Ghost as a major but brief character that has a significant presence throughout the play. The inciting event found in the tragedy Hamlet occurs from the first apparition of the Ghost. The Ghost, the dead father of young Hamlet, approaches Hamlet in the beginning of the play and tells him he has been murdered by his own brother Claudius. The Ghost Commands Hamlet to take vengeance for his Father’s death. This brief, but significant moment, the plot development of Shakespeare’s play is created.
