The terms liberal and conservative are used more than others in academia, political conversations, and by the media. However, it is doubtful that many people have a clear understanding of what each label represents and the differences they signify. It is difficult to pickup an editorial page of any newspaper without reading about the in-fighting of conservatives and liberals in either the house of representatives or the senate or other political groups due to the fact that these terms are often used improperly.
