SECTION 1: Technology is advancing.
The purpose of this paper is to state the arguments of the advantages and disadvantages for replacing textbooks for e-books in schools. The advancements of technology will give us numerous benefits that we can enjoy. The coming into view of eBooks has offered a lot of advantages to users, the publishers, and even the environment. Now days the younger generations depend much in technology and the new advancements there is in order to make our life’s easier and less complicated. Technology is advancing in a vast amount and very quickly, it would be great if schools start implementing this for their students to get familiar and get involved with the new devices such as the tablets which in this particular case I would like to refer specifically to the Apple iPad. SECTION 2: Advantages of replacing textbooks for e-books

First of all, you can download eBooks into tablets like the iPad, you do not have to go to bookstores just to buy the book you like. All you have to do is go online and look for the book you like, search for an eBook for that, purchase it and then download it on your iPad. Another benefit you can get from eBooks is that you do not have to be in a long line just to make a payment for it. This definitely saves you time, energy, and fuel. Publishers will also benefit from eBooks because what they sell can be advertised and sold anywhere in the world through the Internet. There’s no need for them to ship books to another place. A few clicks and upload, their product is already for purchase online. Also the environment will benefit the most from eBooks. Production of eBooks does not require ink and paper anymore. Manuscripts are done on the computer and printing hard copies is no longer needed. This will save thousands of trees and prevent waste as well. Aside from the fact that we can use it to get online and communicate with others and do our work, we can also download eBooks for iPad and enjoy reading the books that we want. The iPad is not just a toy that kids can use to play Angry Birds. The iPad can help students in the classroom as well. Increasingly we’re seeing iPads being integrated into the classroom environment. News stories have shown iPads in elementary schools in helping kids learn math as they play some educational games. But the iPad can be useful to high school students as well. One way in which the iPad can help students is by replacing their physical text books with interactive iPad textbooks. When you have textbooks on the iPad instead of in print there are countless advantages. Let me go through a few of the problems physical textbooks cause and the ways iPad textbooks can solve those problems. The weight, textbooks are often times heavy. High school students don’t just have one class, they have several. Each class can assign a heavy textbook. Carrying these books around can strain the backs of students, but on the iPad you can pack as many textbooks as you want and it won’t increase the weight of your iPad (Crum, 2012). The next factor is the price; textbook companies are after one thing: profit. To them, it doesn’t really matter how students get their books as long as they make money in the process. If they...
