I think that having a best friend who comes to me for everything when she needs help, is a good back up to what I am saying because she knows that she can trust me. My sixth word is going to be responsible. I think responsible is a good word for myself because, I feel as I am responsible in a lot of ways, when it comes to school, work, sports and even relationships. I think A good example of responsible is when I got to be captain for my basketball team my junior and senior year. My coach trusted me enough as a player to take responsibility in roles in leading the team in a positive way. I think that if I was not a responsible leader my junior year, I would not of got asked to be a captain my senior year. In a school setting, being responsible in group work especially is something I give 100% to because I do not want to be the reason that something goes wrong in a group project, so writing everything down and taking good notes in class and in the group work is something that I

Leadership is a lifestyle, not a role one adopts. Leadership requires strength and power, but also the ability to empathize and recognize others' needs. As a high school student, I have had many opportunities to be a leader, whether it be through clubs, group projects, or extracurricular activities. During my Junior year, I assistant directed the play Steel Magnolias under the eye of my drama teacher as well as a college student director. This role allowed me to learn the ropes of directing as well as take care of the six girls cast in the show. I adapted the role of the "stage mom," making sure every hair was curled to perfection and every prop was in its place, as well as ensuring their lines were memorized and their staging was proper. One word to describe myself would be leadership. As the commander of my high school’s JROTC Drill Team, and the President of the National Technical Honor Society I have had many occasions where I had to step out of my comfort zone and take control of situations. Before joining JROTC I did not know what being a great leader was, but after becoming a squad leader I realized I needed to step out of my comfort zone and be the great leader that my squad deserves. Now three years later I am now the Drill Team commander, which I absolutely love being. I love being a guide for others, to be a supporter for them as they go through difficulty. Being a leader has taught me to be humble, to put others before myself. When being a leader you have to realize…

Robert Starrat, the author of the book Ethical Leadership, has similar ideas about leader’s responsibilities. He says, “The leader is responsible for all the students, to all the teachers, to all the parents and to district officials and agencies governing the school. When those responsibilities conflict, the leader has to seek the course of action that most benefits the students while taking into consideration his or her responsibilities to the other stakeholders” (p.…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

To me, leadership is leading by example. My years in high school have shown me that the person who builds people up, and shows kindness is more of a leader than someone who commands and controls people. I strive to be this kind, caring person who others can look up to. As I grow older, I hope that by doing the right things, I can inspire others to do the same.…

In my opinion, there are many roles that a student leader must presume such as representing the students and informing students. However, the main role for a student leader is to be an example for those around them. They must do this as it sets a standard for how other kids react. If they lead in the right way,…

The five words that I believe that describes me are Bi or multi-lingual, organized, visionary, resilient, and listener. Multilingual because I speak and write Spanish and English. Being able to know two languages has been very helpful because I get to help people translate at work or anywhere I go. I like to be organized in my school stuff and personal things because it makes everything so much easy to do and I get things done on time when I organized my stuff. I’m a visionary person because I’m always having ideas for my future and dream about accomplishing my goals. I learn to be a resilient person because if I don’t recover quickly from a difficult situation it will not take me anywhere in life. I never let a difficult situation stop me…

A leader is a person who represents the whole class and motivate them. I did not believe I was a leader. During my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I was a quiet spoken individual who listens to what others have to say. It was not that I did not have anything to say, but it was the fear of saying something wrong and others disregarding what I had to say. I did several presentations in high school that made speaking in front of people more easier. However, I was still the timid person who wanted desperately to break my shell but did not know how. A shocking moment had occurred when I had became secretary of Zonta Club. It was junior year and I was surprised to have been part of the leadership team. I was able to discuss my ideas and to speak with the members at ease. It was my breaking point. I was given a privilege to be part of something that made a change. I was not just the soft spoken person, but I was a leader…

Leadership is the capability of holding responsibilities over others and guiding them as a role model to make good decisions. They themselves should be able to make wise choices and have a positive outlook. I am a leader because I am the oldest out of six children. They all look up to me for guidance and I always have to set an example whether I am out of the house or at school. I also take care of them when my parents need to run errands. I have a lot of experience in telling my sisters they can not do certain things if it involves their safety, breaking of rules or is disrespectful. Respect is important to my family. We learn to respect our elders, parents and one another. If my sisters do something they were not supposed to do like color on the walls or eat junk food, I also get in trouble. It can be difficult but I have had responsibilities at a young age. Service, scholarship, character and leadership are all important and should strive to improve all…

It is difficult to narrow down the many instances where I have showed great leadership but many can be found in my involvements in teamwork. I have been looked to as a leader and have taken responsibility for various group projects. I have discovered much about fairness, compromise, and responsible qualities that are required to be a "good" leader. Often, I have had to sacrifice my own free time and personal desires for the benefit of the group. I believe this is the most important part of being a leader, the ability to sacrifice individual time and desires for the overall gain of the people that you are leading.…
