11 Ardmore/Medical-Surgical Unit at Wake Forest Baptist Health utilizes the team nursing model in implementing effective patient care. There is a charge nurse each shift with the coordination of the RN team and assistive personnel (LPN, CNA, UAP, etc.), and each staff member functions directly under their Scope of Practice. On this 30 bed unit, each assignment is divided so that an RN is responsible for the care of 5-6 patients, and a CNA may be assigned 10 patients and work directly under the supervision of 2 nurses.
