Project Guidelines

1. This project is an important component of your coursework. The students will research and present on various opportunities and challenges that companies face when they invest in foreign countries. For example, when a firm in U.S. wants to set up an FDI project in an emerging economy, it has to face several issues to successfully implement the project.
2. At the end of the semester, you will be required to make a presentation and submit written report.
3. The students should form teams and I will assign a country.
4. You pick your teams and so I will not entertain any issues later on during the semester.
5. Most importantly, the paper should have a flow and easy to understand.
6. The report should include Executive Summary, Introduction, Analyses of the topics listed below, Conclusion, and References.
7. The report should be written using a 12 Times New Roman Font, double-spaced.
8. The final report should be well-written, proof-read, and complete.

Topics to be covered:

1) For the assigned country, provide an overview and describe the demographics.
2) Describe the political, economic, and legal environment of the country chosen. Include discussion on issues such as the role of government on foreign businesses, labor laws, legal issues that businesses need to know, political risks, growth of economy using measures such as unemployment, GDP etc.,
3) Focus on economy development in the country in the recent times.
4) Discuss the importance of FDI, FDI inflows, and FDI outflows. Discuss the FDI impact on the economy of the country chosen.
5) Based on the data provided by the instructor, perform data analysis of FDI in the chosen country.
6) Illustrate the challenges and opportunities pertaining to planning, implementing, and managing FDI in the foreign country. Some of the topics that need to be covered include choosing mode of entry, marketing strategy, and HR strategy.
7) Discuss the cross-cultural issues in doing
