Professor Dengler

With so many supplements on the market, it is impossible to know what is best for you. The best strategy is to do research and note any side effects or possible contradictions with any other medication you may be taking. I have chosen to create a supplement for Diabetes. Clearly this is not meant to cure the disease but merely to help to lessen any side effects you may be experiencing from the disease. High levels of glucose over long periods of time can cause a series of problems. Some health problems to watch for include heart disease, kidney disease, digestive problems and even nerve damage ( NIDDK, 2013). As with any medication, supplements are best taken under the advice of a doctor.
Many diabetics may experience difficulties controlling their blood glucose by diet alone. Supplements may be useful to help diabetics maintain a safe blood glucose level. There are many factors that influence blood glucose levels. The amount of food you consume and what time you eat can be detrimental to blood sugars. This can also be a positive to taking supplements to help control your sugars. With the different forms of Diabetes, my supplement will be useful to help all forms, whether it is to help regulate blood glucose levels or help to lessen the affects of prescribed diabetes medicines.
Insulin whether made by your body or manmade helps to regulate blood glucose levels by moving glucose from your blood into your cells which in turn uses it for energy ( NDDK, 2013). So it makes sense that without insulin to regulate blood glucose, there is no energy. Without insulin we cannot turn sugars into a useable resource therefore sugars would then be stored as fat. This happens when the liver can no longer store sugar because it is full, when this happens the liver then turns the excess sugars into fatty acids ( Schlenker and Roth, 2007). This is why I chose my first ingredient COQ-10, our body makes it and it helps

Medications should be considered for management of diabetes because it lowers blood glucose by reducing the amount of sugar (glucose) that the liver discharges into the bloodstream. It also rises the sensitivity of the body's cells to insulin. That way more glucose is taken into cells with the same amount of insulin in the bloodstream. It can also lower…

To recap, diabetes is a disease that occurs when a body’s pancreas fails to produce enough of the hormone insulin. Insulin acts like a judge and internally helps organisms maintain a healthy blood to sugar ratio. When this ratio is off balance, one of two post conditions will occur; hyperglycemia, which is onset by a high blood sugar or hypoglycemia, which is onset by having a low blood sugar. Statistically, 10% of our total population is plagued with this deadly disease, with majority being type 2. Type 2 diabetes in most cases is very preventable but mandates health eating and regular exercising. For those who are unwilling to make this sacrifice, there is an assortment of expensive treatments available for them to use which range from insulin injections to daily pills. On going advancements are still being made, some of which have potential to end diabetes altogether, such as artificial transplants. Until this break through arrives, its our belief that using simple common sense to make healthier choices could drastically eradicate this highly avoidable…

Insulin stands alongside penicillin as one of the most important discoveries in medical history. In the beginning of the twentieth century, starvation was the common treatment for diabetes patients. Frederick Allen, a doctor at the Rockefeller Institute, promoted this type of diabetes treatment (Friedman 1100). Physicians at the Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research concluded that diabetes is a metabolic disorder and therefore there was a need for hormonal treatment. Israel Kleiner, a biochemist at the Rockefeller Institute “tested the ability of pancreatic extracts to treat diabetes before the discovery of insulin”…

Garg, will provide a more stable and secure form of treatment for a diabetic. As a patient would only need be prescribed twice in their lifetime, there would be less dependency on taking medication as well as reducing blood sugar and possibly keeping the system alive and running. Metreleptin not only helps the liver, but also the pancreas in metabolic processes, so it would also be helpful to use it if a person were having a low metabolism, and are facing severe health issues due to it, such as obesity, heart disease and reproductive issues. This does not mean that everyone with low metabolism should be prescribed with this drug, because there could be an extreme imbalance in insulin or fat levels in the body. For example, if a person who is just above the normal weight and has not incurred any major injuries or procedures regarding their health as a result of low metabolism, the most effective method in which a doctor can treat them is to heavily encourage to exercise. On the other hand, if a young female came into the hospital on multiple occasions as a result of ovarian torsions as well as having a record of attempting exercise and diet, then a doctor should, at least, consider the drug to help the woman and her weight issues that came from low…

Sometimes it may take more than one pill in order to stabilize the patient’s blood glucose levels. Patients may also be required to participate in routine insulin injections and use other injected medicines. Along with medication, doctors would advise patients to exercise often and keep an eye on their daily diet. Depending on the patient’s health condition, treatment plans may vary. For those who wish to avoid contracting diabetes, the same applies: develop a low-fat, low-calorie diet and exercise daily. All forms of diabetes can be managed in one way or another. However, as of right now, none of the forms can be cured. Therefore, it would behoove one to eat and exercise properly to avoid this disease to begin…

Every kid has that same wish when they are younger. They all wish they can play in the pros one day just like their favorite athlete that they watch on the television. The likely hood of an athlete actually making it to the next level as being a professional athlete is one to a hundred. Young athletes love fame, and will do anything to get to that next level of competition to either get a starting position, scholarship, or even contract. For example, one of the things athletes might even do is steroids so they can get that edge that they feel is necessary to reach their goals. Athletes take steroids to get the extra edge that they will make them faster, stronger, jump higher, recover from injury faster, etc., but in reality it’s one of the worst things that an athlete can do to their body and illegal. For example, an article in Men’s Health (2011) states, “In both men and women, anabolic steroids can cause: Bone growth to stop before it is complete in a teen, the teen may not reach his or her full adult height, heart attack or stroke, even in a very young person, high blood pressure, higher levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and lower levels of good cholesterol (HDL), liver disease and possibly liver cancer, the chance of these problems is higher when steroids are taken as a pill, oily skin and acne, male-pattern hair loss, skin…
