There are many people in today’s world who put on a persona of content to the world when in reality, they are more lost than anyone else. Society makes it hard for people with mental health to get help, so people would rather make their real thoughts invisible to others, but by getting help, we can fight back. This message carries a relationship of ideas about mental health with Carmen Machado's story, “Real Women Have Bodies”. Its vine has already gotten to his neck and it is only a matter of time until he loses himself to this tree and becomes completely invisible. The vines are being constricted around his neck, forcing him to be unable to speak and get help from others. The vines have also broken through into this man's heart and it has caused his heart to crack. It might be cracked with branches going all over it, but it is still holding together because people are stronger than they know. The indomitable human spirit is a powerful thing that can break through restrictions if it just does not give up. He believes that he can conquer this demon by himself with the shears being connected to his hand, like a cyborg. The shears might be connected to him, but they can also be used by someone to help cut off the vines' grasp. On the other hand, there is a ball with the quote “Caution can be a dangerous virus”. This being on the opposite hand is contrasting to his shear and will to go on. The man believes that if he does try to show his real feelings, his negativity will spread like a
