When we reunited, I instantly became the closest person to Elyse in the world. I worry that she expects me to fill the gap in her life. I am the 'heartbeat she has always missed' and I am bound tet her down.” (Schein, Paula Bernstein 94).
(A) In this chapter Paula is explaining how the shocking news of being a twin and meeting them is a life changing event. After this quote she goes on to say what her life would have been like if her and Elyse were realized together, and how she relishes how much time the have missed out on.
