Lamb to the Slaughter starts off as a happy story, with a loving, pregnant wife(Mrs.Maloney) waiting for her husband(Mr.Maloney) to get home from work. The husband pulls his car in the driveway, and the wife strolled to the front door. Mr. Maloney walks in , tired from his long day of work, and the wife happily greets him and offers him food and drinks but he rejects everything he’s offered. In a forceful tone, he tells the wife to sit down and be quiet. Silently, the wife sits frightened as the husband explains that he’s getting a divorce so he can go to a new job.
