3D printing can print almost anything you want to a 3D version. Thomas Jefferson writes a letter to George Wythe that states “ Has there ever been one lost since the art of printing has rendered it practicable to multiply and disperse copies? This leads us then to the only means of preserving those remains of our laws now under consideration, that is, a multiplication of printed copies.” It’s important because without the multiplication of printed copies books would have not been in the same condition as they are now. They would been eaten by bookworms, not taken care of, and if there is a fire they could have been burned and had been lost forever. 3D printing is possible because the printing press had already been invented.. 3D printing can help since a spray can be made in the 3D printer to kill the bookworms.Francis Bacon states “ The Printing Press has changed the appearance and state of the whole world,” ( Bacon, March…

When the 3-D printing was first introduced it remained relatively unknown to the greater public. It wasn’t until the second decade of the 21st century that the 3-D technology became well known. The popularity of 3-D printing was mainly due to the mixture of U.S. government funding and a handful of commercial businesses who first made it popular. This combination created a new wave of extraordinary popularity around the idea of 3-D printing ever since. Nowadays, 3-D printing is extremely widespread and it’s used in various fields such as aviation, automotive, medical, and manufacturing.…

This assessment will look at 3D printing and its impacts. 3D printing has many capabilities but comes with, like many technologies, pros and cons. It allows one to create a wide variety of products from a number of materials. It can be used for product formation, allowing designers and engineers to test out ideas for dimensional products cheaply before committing to the process. 3D printing also allows doctors to create replicas of the human parts they are about to operate on, for training purposes, as well as make bone grafts for patients who have suffered injuries. It is thought that in the future human organs can be created,…

I chose to do my research paper on 3D printing, were we are today and what the future looks like. While researching this project I learned that 3D printing has been around since the 80’s, and that it is also known as additive manufacturing. I chose this topic for a few reasons; first off this is a topic that has interested me fo a while now and I enjoy learning more about it. I believe this technology is going to have a huge impact on our future, like the computer, and the internet it will change the way we do things. I like that its impact is not limited to one area. I highlight in my project seven different areas that 3D printing is already being used and is reshaping those industries.…

It is a process in which metal or plastic or whatever material is being used for that product, is layered on until the product is created. Lots of programming goes into the more complex devices, such as prosthetics. 3D printed prosthetics is a great way to save money on prosthetics. Expensive prosthetics can cost up to 100,000 dollars, but 3D printed prosthetics for kids, especially because they will grow out of them, can cost as low as 100 dollars (Bhatia). 3D prosthetics can and are being created by students nationwide in Fab Labs. Fab Labs are labs that contain the necessary tools for 3D printing. These tools consist of 3D printers, laser cutters, laptops, and engraving machines. Many schools, like Charlotte Latin, and Harvard, have these Fab Labs. Students have been able to print prosthetics, showing the how even students can help amputees. 3D printed can increase our technological knowledge of these inventions, and eventually be able to help all…

To understand exactly what 3D print is, it 's important for our company to first find out where it 's origins lie. As a matter of fact, this technology is not very new at all the process was invented in 1984 by Charles Hull. The process he used was known as stereolithography which is a printing process that enables a 3D object to be created from digital data. Basically, the desired material is placed into the printer. Then, a laser inside of the printer solidifies it to create the desired 3D object. These 3D printers were first produced in 1992 by 3D Systems. Throughout the years, these 3D printers were being used to print various things. In the late 90s and early 2000s, they were used in the field of science. It was actually used to engineer synthetic organs for implants. Around 2005, a company known as RepRap started using the printer to create small tool parts. As the technology in 3D printers has progressed it has been able to create small toys, prosthetics, robotic aircrafts, and even a full sized car.…

Every metal 3D printer has an unreported cost or a reported cost of over $100,000 according to the Senvol database. Undoubtedly, this is too expensive for the majority of the world. Thus, I plan to use my college (hopefully Harvard) education to revolutionize 3D printing for efficient and affordable use in every household. My plan will allow people to create personalized homemade objects they need at prices they can afford. All individuals will then have the ability to make what they need, how they need it, when they need it.…
