Stephen King: The Shining, Carrie, It, And The Mist
Stephen King is an author that many have heard of but few know his story. Stephen King has written many worldwide known books including, The Shining, Carrie, It, and The Mist. Stephen King has even been compared to Charles Dickens and Edgar Allen Poe.

Stephen Edwin King was born September, 21st 1947 in Portland, Maine to Donald and Nellie King. Stephen also has a older brother Daniel, who was born two years before.

When Stephen turned two his dad abandoned his family, after this his mother wasn't able to keep a job for more than a few months. This caused Stephen to live in 6 different states before he was even 6. When he turned 6 his family settled down in Connecticut. However 5 years later, when King was 11, they moved back to Maine.

In these boxes were old horror novels and some attempts at horror novels of his father's. This was when King started to have an interest in horror. Growing up Stephen attended Grammar school in Durham. In 1966 Stephen graduated from Libson Falls High School.

Stephen attended college at the University of Maine. While here Stephen accomplished a lot that helped his career. King wrote for the campus newspaper, and even had his own c “King’s Garbage Truck”. Stephen was also active in student politics, he was a member of the student senate and was big in anti war movements. While at the university King sold his first short story “The Glass Floor” for only $35. Also he met his soon to be wife, Tabitha at the campus library where she worked. King graduated from college in 1971 with a B.A. in English, and the ability to teach high school.

After graduating Stephen tried hard to get a job as a teacher but, didn't succeed. King ended up taking a job in industrial Landry. Soon after graduation Stephen and Tabitha got married and moved into a mobile home. Two years later King gets a job at Hampden Academy, but with his salary of only 6,400 dollars a year both him and Tabitha had to keep a second
